From the original report it said Dwight could resume full contact activity 4 months after surgery which was in late April.

Good point. Unless they want Jones, I amnesty Scola.

If its an either/or, I have a much higher level of comfort. But I don't want to get plugged from both ends.

Because the team, the city, and the owner have all turned on each other. There is a harsh emotional history there. He just accused them of of some shady dealings to get him to opt into his final year after all. He really could walk from Orlando - bad blood there. A new team who just acquired him, probably not so much.

So if we cut half our players for cap space, and trade the other half to Orlando, who the hell is going to play next to Dwight?

It is a great philosophy. You do what it takes to get a superstar. Even if it means getting rid of glorified role players.

its difficult because if we're amnestying scola we're taking on more bad contracts and less flexibility moving forward thus making it hard to build a contender....

trading away young players leaves us screwed if howard bolts but with less contracts to strangle us with leaving us more flexible moving forward...

id rather trade the youth away because i think scola next to howard would be a vveerryy nice combo not to mention there is no gaurantee them prospects fulfill thier potential...

I mean you have to assume we're giving up at least 2 picks either way (Toronto's and Dallas') and maybe more. But if we can take back some bad contracts--of players who are still useful guys like Turk and Richardson especially--and not give up prospects, or only give up lesser ones like Jones/Morris, then that would be much better.

You're correct, sir. What I was reading was written during the previous contract negotiations. The author got the cap impact wrong. Not that it affects my opinion. I still think it would be stupid to amnesty Scola.

Why not Martin? He's got a bigger contract next season. Scola's contract isn't that unreasonable.

Agreed. It's frustrating not knowing where Morey is drawing hard bright lines.

I cut scola because in 2 years when were ready to compete, he's going to be 34 and needing a new contract. meanwhile, lamb and white and company will just be hitting their stride as pros and on very friendly rookie contracts. scola is NOT part of the rebuilding plans of this team, be it with or without D12.

it should absolutely affect your opinion, because the cap space is the entire reason for cutting him.

If we can just get bynum or howard i would be really happy. Everybody needs to stop being so picky.

I completely agree. You win titles when you surround stars with role players like Battier, Hayes, Lowry, and Scola but you don't win at all if you just have them. Guys like Battier & Scola are the aerodynamic bits on a high performance race car but guys like Dwight Howard are the freaking engine.
