Not if the guy posting up has a 6 inch height advantage, a solid post game, ball-handling skills, great court vision, and great passing skills.

With those kind of advantages, you force the defense to send help defense, and that opens up passing/cutting lanes.

It seems like an overall bad idea against a zone and an inefficient way to use the talent on the Dream Team both offensively and defensively.

But I suppose we are not meant to agree here.

As a guy whose spent his entire career being compared to MJ and found wanting, I'm surprised he wants to make the Dream Team comparison.

1996 would give the Dream Team a much better game than the current roster. 1996 had far superior big men, great SF's in Hill and Pippen, and a big, good back court with Payton, Hardaway, etc...

Hold that loss, Kobe. You gonna come back and hold the opposition scoreless next game?

Considering the comment you just quoted and your response, I tend to agree on the age limit.

The 92 Team would laugh at a zone before completely destroying it.

Penetration by the wing players (Pippen, Jordan, & Drexler) would lead to wide open perimeter shots & open things up for the bigs to dominate the glass. Robinson, Ewing, & Malone would have a field day.

    perimeter shots by who.

I'm being a bit harsh here, but you are at least 6th or 7th poster to randomly jump into that particular discussion, skip the reading part and post an unrelated comment.

Mullin, Stockton, & Bird were excellent shooters. Jordan ( who was in his prime) can get his shot whenever he wanted & routinely shot 50% from the field. Karl Malone is one of the greatest mid range jump shooting bigs to ever play. He could man the high post against any zone. Ewing & Robinson were excellent mid range shooters. You obviously never watched these guys play.

Update me bro, If I spoke out of turn forgive me. My eyes are bleeding from reading that massive Dwight Howard thread. What was your position?

He thinks that with a lineup of Magic/Jordan/Pippen/Barkley/Robinson, the 1992 team would have trouble winning if they ran the offense through the 6'9 Magic even though Magic's counterpart would've been the 6'3 Deron Williams or the 6'0 Chris Paul.

He thinks that a zone defense would compensate for Williams/Paul's defensive shortcomings.

My position was that the best lineup for the Dream Team in this matchup would have to include one of the three point shooters (Stockton, Mullin, Bird) next to Jordan and Pippen.

Well maybe I didn't speak out of turn, that group of Hall of Famers would easily figure out a zone defense. There's no wizardry in a zone defense. Just move the ball, attack the gaps and find the open man.
