If Romney has nothing to hide, then show the American people your income tax returns. Make full disclosure of your investments and holdings overseas. The American people expect nothing less from someone aspiring to be President of the United States.
Reminder: Offshore Tax Havens Cost U.S. Government $100 Billion Per Year On Tuesday, after Mitt Romney said he had "no idea where" his offshore investments were, Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) came to his aid, saying "it's really American to avoid paying taxes, legally." But by parking money in countries with tiny tax rates -- thus putting it beyond the reach of the American government -- wealthy businesses and individuals cost the federal government roughly $100 billion every year, according to a 2011 report from the California Public Interest Research Group. That's money that doesn't make it into the federal government's hands, even though it would probably come in useful -- again, given the trillion-dollar-plus national deficit. As the CALPIRG report notes, many household-name corporations, including Goldman Sachs, General Electric, Exxon Mobil and Google, take advantage of offshore accounts, often saving billions in taxes in the process. At the moment, of course, tax havens are more in the news because of people. (Although, remember: Corporations are people, my friend.) Barack Obama's campaign team has lately been giving Romney hell for the Republican candidate's use of offshore accounts in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and for his refusal to disclose more than a handful of details about his finances. http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/chart-mitt-romney-income-tax-rate-TPM.jpg
I'm easily paying a higher effective tax rate than Mr. Hundreds of Millions of Dollars Romney. It's rediculous.
You mean the Obamas and Bidens gave way more after articles were printed saying they don't give *** to charity? How surprising. Thus why we need a simpler tax code (Fair Tax, Flat Tax, etc....) Here is why Romney's tax rate looks low
Interesting... while Romney does donate to charities (a good thing), a significant portion (10% of his income) of that is required as a tithe to the Mormon Church (and again, tithing to your Church is good). But also curious is the list of other "charitable" donations... http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Elections/President/2012/0124/Mitt-Romney-taxes-show-very-high-charitable-giving-tied-to-Mormon-church
Ironic that we mention Bernie Madoff as he was a huge Democratic Donor. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2008/12/15/madoff-hefty-political-contributions-officials/
So there is proof that Mitt Romney lied to the US government. That is a big deal. I can see now why he won't release his taxes, this is very damaging information.
They sure do! Just look at who they donate too What is LDS Philanthropies? LDS Philanthropies is a department of the Office of the Presiding Bishopric responsible for philanthropic donations to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its affiliated charities including: Brigham Young University BYU-Hawaii BYU-Idaho LDS Business College Polynesian Cultural Center Latter-day Saint Charities (Humanitarian Services) Church History FamilySearch Missionary Fund Mormon Tabernacle Choir Perpetual Education Fund Temple Patron and Construction Funds
This is exactly what he was trying to do and why I stopped responding to him, he's trying to go off the focus of the thread, no matter how idiotic he acts or how easy it is to prove him wrong, don't fall for it.
Being an idiot and making bad decisions is not a crime. Stealing and falsifying documents is a crime. Is it the government's job to legislate success versus failure? Should bad business decisions and failures be prosecuted?
So you are saying no one else on wall street did anything criminal during the whole financial crisis? Umm OK.
I don't understand your point and I'm not sure you do either, you simply posted a description of a random department within the LDS church. Some of the church's funds go towards its own operations. You're simply plugging your ears and singing 'la la la' if you don't acknowledge how large LDS humanitarian contributions have been. I realize this is totally off-topic but I get irritated with how one-sided your posts are.
Philippine Supreme Court Justice was successfully impeached for not disclosing all of his assets including US$ bank accounts
If he left off things on his official documents, then it should definitely be prosecuted and exposed. I understand that it was limited partnership interests (investments) in off-shore funds, which is very common and is used by most major public and private retirement systems, university endowments and many other large investors.
Government expenditures are a black hole. They'll continue growing into programs we don't want regardless of how many tax dollars they leech. I'm not defending Romney by any means, I just thought this was a silly statement.
