I gave up on it a while back. I read the last page of a Howard thread about once per day. I really don't care much anymore if we get him or not. I suspect if we do get him, we'll be gutted and pathetic anyway. So, I'll let the dust settle and then size up what we've got.

He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And all his limbs hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burnt off and his penis...
    He is brave Sir Robin.

I'm not that concerned with helping the Lakers obtain Dwight.

He doesn't make them that much better than Bynum did and he certainly can't make the rest of the team any younger. Realistically, acquiring Dwight gives the Lakers another year, maybe two to contend before father time slams the door on this Lakers squad.

    Opening Day 2014 Lakers:
    Kobe - 36 years old
    Nash - 40 years old
    Gasol - 34 years old

The Rockets, on the other, hand will still be at least two seasons away from being a true contender if they land Bynum this summer. That's being optimistic. So as the Lakers burn out, the Rockets will be on the rise.

It's huge for us, all right, but not in a good way.

The reason we're the only team bidding against the Lakers for the best center in the NBA is that most teams assumed he would bolt for greener pastures after this year. Now, I'm afraid that some other franchises are going to start looking around and seeing the same thing we see - most of the flashy destination cities are capped out, and as long as he's not in a complete crap city, the odds that he re-ups with the team holding his Bird rights at the end of the year are pretty good.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see other suitors enter the picture. If Morey can live with the offer on the table, now might be the time to swing the bat, even if we aren't getting maximum value.

Reading some Orlando Magic fans, if they get Brian Shaw, former Lakers asst coach, as their own head coach, they would mostly prefer to see Magic just trade Dwight straight up to Lakers for Bynum.

I don't understand looking for a coach first b4 trading Dwight. Your team could look drastically different after the trade and then you might believe another coach would fit better wouldn't you say?

I guess a mod simply accidentally hit the "close" button.

Don't think a deal goes down today. Hope I'm wrong.
