    because hes the centerpeice of the trade...then they are REALLY offering less than we are...for some reason Lopez with a max contract is tempting orlando.

    They can't trade Lopez for a pick because then they wouldn't have the salary to trade Orlando to take back Dwight.

    The Nets had given the Magic of 3pm ET today to get a deal done, because they want to work out a deal with Lopez otherwise. But, obviously that was just horse**** because there's no way Brooklyn says no to an Orlando deal just because of some hokey artificial deadline.

    what are the broader implications if Lopez signs a max 5 year offer? I assume it means he won't get traded because Orlando would want less years. Only reason to do a 5 year offer is to deter him from going to Portland? Not sure...

    Well if he signs the 5 year deal he can't be traded because you can't sign a trade a 5 year max player. He'd have to wait awhile.

    I think Lopez is going to get screwed here. If the Nets don't get Dwight they have no incentive to give Lopez his 5 year max.
