Agree that taking the Nets offer is ridiculous other than involving them to pressure the Rockets/Lakers to up their offer. Because why would Orlando 1) Create a New Super Team in the East 2) Turn down a better offer from Rockers (our lottery pick is better than all the low 1s combined from nets) 3) Try to Appease Dwight.

It just doesn't make sense. Therefore I just CANNOT see a scenario where Dwight goes to the Nets unless the Magic want to commit basketball suicide. I just don't see it.

    All those

No kidding. What I can't fathom is other teams even discussing giving him a max offer sheet.

pau = 32 years old at $19 million/year with some very forgettable playoff appearances over the last two seasons

metta = now i know you're joking throwing out 2004 -- hell the Astros were pennant contenders in 2004.

Morey can find a gemstone at a playground, he doesn't need draft picks. He needs a star player. He has proven time and time again he can find unknown players and make them relative. I have faith that if he brings in a true star, he will give him all the support he needs.

Basically he assembled the supporting cast, the best supporting cast imo, but didn't have a star.

That was a long time ago, and gasol only has 3-4 years left, Bynum would be soooooooooooooooooooo much better.

    Jopatmc,

I agree with you completely. However, I have two concerns. First, where do you think Atlanta is in all this? Might they Also offer hOrford, Teague and some first rounders (theirs in alternating years and the rockets own from the Williams trade) and also offer cap relief? To me they have been too quiet. I fear they are in the bidding. Second, I was comfortable renting Dwight because I thought all the glamor cities were gone. However, couldn't the clippers clear cap space for a max offer, then resign Chris Paul and go over the cap?

I do agree that if the deal involves Houston, it is less likely we end up with bynum. What does LA have to offer in addition to bynum, since they gave away all of their draft picks. Either Orlando wants bynum for itself, or it wants the rockets assets. If they want the rockets assets why wouldn't we just deal with them directly since LA has nothing more to offer (other than gasol)?

I'm about to step into what I anticipate will be a very lengthy meeting, the subject of which is NOT the Houston Rockets.
