What else can the Nets even offer now that they couldn't before anyway? I think the Nets have basically put in anything and everything they can possibly think of into the deal, and coming up short.

Unless the Magic REALLY, REALLY likes Lopez, this is their last shot at gaining leverage against LA/Hou. LA probably told them Bynum straight up with no gurantees and no bad contracts. Morey probably told them we'll give them some of our prospects/picks and take on maybe one salary. Orlando is pissed that they can't get more, and keep using NJ to have others up their ante.

The doors to Media darlings for Howard to sign outright next offseason will be closed.

    BK (capped out)
    LA (capped out)
    NY (capped out)

Dallas? Maybe but they will only have a 36 year old Dirk.

The two teams on his publicly released list were LAL & Brooklyn. NOT Houston. And if that's the way he feels, then that's the way he feels. As I posted before, the guy is a petulant child and you are expecting him to commit to what they are trying to accomplish here because he'll have no choice but to do so unless he kisses away $25M. Yeah, I can see that really working out well for the Rockets. Be very careful what you ask for...

read my post above Hillboy. Unless Howard wants to take less money to play with a 36 year old Dirk and Marion then he is **** out of luck. There are no other teams with stars that have the cap space to sign him.

Would losing Lopez allow the Nets to give Dwight more money next year?

    NBA.com's David Aldridge:

    http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/...s-in-houston-if-traded-there/?ls=iref:nbahpt2

Amid a report that stated the Houston Rockets are hoping to amass enough trade assets to make a deal with the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard – even though Howard would only be in Houston for one season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2013, a source with knowledge of Howard’s thinking said Monday that there was “not a chance” Howard would be persuaded to remain in Houston if traded there, and would leave next summer to sign elsewhere.

Well if the Orlando Magic REALLY REALLY like Lopez, their magic fans may stop watching...

    Observe: (this is funny!)

It's not 25 million. Howard CAN'T go to either the Lakers or the Nets if we get our hands on him unless he's willing to accept the MLE ( and not even the full MLE, the taxpayer MLE for about 3 million a year). The Lakers and the Nets just simply cannot afford, end of story. They are not relevant in a Howard conversation if we get him.

This. I bet Morey is trying to limit the number of bad contracts coming back and Orlando is doing this to push him a little bit.

im starting to think that new guy hennigan is overrated. if he really was as good as they say, he wouldve pulled the trigger for picks and youngs.

Woj now saying Orlando re engaging talks with Brooklyn. WTF is Hennigan doing? He's as dysfunctional as Dwight.

Nah. Hennigan is just trying to maximize what he is getting back by using multiple suitors as leverage. If Lopez gets an offer sheet from somewhere, that would be awesome. The rockets offer would diminish and Orlando would have no choice but to do it.
