I can predict, from talking to numerous sources, that every single offer sheet except Landry Fields' will be matched.

"Evet"is Turkish for yes. And once those RFAs are matched, the reshuffling begins and we have a second wave on the 14th and 15th.

Lin and Asik being matched helps with the Dwight pursuit?

Some extra cap room to play with in configuring a deal. I think the question will come down to HOU's willingness to take on extra contracts, not ability to do so. The Rockets want Dwight, but don't want to be stuck in the same situation that ORL is in: no talent and no flexibility to add talent.

One observation: Looking at the numbers, it seems that if both Lin and Asik get matched, and then HOU amnesty Scola and cut Livington, the team can have $27M in cap room, enough to eat Dwight's salary plus that of Jason Richardson AND Quentin Richardson without giving single cent back.

Not saying this is going to happen, just saying that there are ways for HOU to eat a ton of excess salary from ORL.

Yup they have 3 days. Till the 14th to match. I am sure both Asik and Lin will be matched pretty quick.

If the Rockets do land Dwight Howard, I'd care about the Asik matching a lot less than I did without DH.

Having Asik as a starting C would be great. Having Asik as an elite backup center would be nice, but kind of a luxury.

Given Bynum's knees and Howard's back, it might be more of a necessity rather than a luxury

If you have Howard, you might be better off giving similar money to, say, Kris Humphries, who can fill in at C and play PF as well. Just kind of strange paying $27 mil for 2 guys playing the same position and you don't want on the floor together, no?

Oh, I totally agree. I was pretty much joking. But, if you are gonna have that kind of money invested in one position, center would be the position.

Carl or anyone who may know,

Does Chicago have to match Asik before Courtney Lee signs a contract for us to then reclaim our rights for him or is there a grace period until the 14th?

If I understand properly, Chicago can screw us by waiting until the 11th hour to match Asik after they use their "post-Brewer" cap room left to sign Lee outright. They've had days to contemplate a strategy, and I've had days to worry.

If they match I think they will trade Noah to us for Martin (and a pick or player).

Depends on what deals happen. I actually would have no problem with Hump on the team. Underrated player. Would prefer him to Scola.

It's too bad there aren't any good point guards available.

My only concern. How is this team going to compete without a PG?

Go ask Orlando if they regret matching the full MLE offer sheet on Marcin Gortat.

Even continuing to play limited backup minutes, Gortat's trade value continued to improve as teams saw him getting better and better as a player. The Magic later used him to dump Vince Carter's horrendous contract and are probably kicking themselves for not having gotten more for him. Now, imagine if Orlando didn't have any bad contracts.

The Rockets can likely flip Asik later, even if he plays behind Howard next season.

It would be nice to have a defensive presence and rim protector on the court at all times but this will be a luxury signing if we get Howard or Bynum.

For all of the outrage that Morey would dare offer such a ludicrous contract to Asik, suddenly it doesn't seem so crazy if/when the Bulls match.

Maybe Morey is not an idiot after all?

Fine sign this guy to get all the rebounds you want this team won't score more than 80 points in a game... we need a pg who can run a team much more important than paying that kinda of $ for 10 rebounds and MAYBE 2 blocks:rolleyes::rolleyes:
