I have mixed feelings about a possible deal for Bynum. On the one hand, I'm terrified of his injury history and I don't think much of him as a person (at least on court). On the other hand, if he lives up to his 20/10 potential (efficiently) and we add him to a front court of Chandler Parsons and Donatas Montiejunas - we have one of the largest and most promising young front courts in the NBA. Parsons and Montiejunas don't have to develop into stars for that to be scary. They just need to develop into quality NBA starters that excel in at least one area (and Parsons already excels at defense).

Add the fact we might still have 270 pound mismatch Royce White and a potential legit scoring threat in Jeremy Lamb (I know some of these guys or even both of them may be included in the deal), and that's certainly a young team I could get excited about watching grow together.

I think if we can get a 1st round pick for Scola things will get extremely interesting.

Another point I'm not sure has been brought up:

If Howard does decide to walk and leave $30M on the table, the Nets have put themselves in a position where we will basically be able to take a pick of any asset they have (except D-Will) in the offseason in a sign & trade. If Dwight is willing to give up the cash then I'm sure his #1 destination will still be Brooklyn, and they won't have the cap space for him most likely.

Now their assets are kind of crap as they've demonstrated this offseason. But at least we wouldn't be losing Dwight for absolutely nothing. We could probably get some picks back in the deal or maybe if one of their guys emerges and seems like a legit player you can build around (although I doubt that).

First, Andrew Bynum is a better overall player than Dwight Howard. I would take him over Howard.

Second, Andrew Bynum is a superstar. The only reason people don't consider him as such is because he plays in the shadows of Pau and Kobe in LA who take the attention and ball away from Drew.

Andrew Bynum is NOT injury prone.

He has played more than 65 games in a season once.

OK maybe I exaggerated a bit, but compared to the two's injury history, I'll take Dwight Howard's bad back (from last season) over Andrew Bynum any day.

Why? Because previous to last season, I believe he only missed fewer than 10 games the whole time he's been in the league (a la Russell Westbrook durability-esque)

You know what all this talk about Howard, and even Bynum, makes me think about?

    Yao.

Oh how I wish Yao had been able to stay healthy.

Yao owned both of these guys, and it was not even close.

    So sad.

All his major injuries have been freak accidents. Landing wrong on somebody's foot after jumping in the air and having another player fall and crash into his knee doesn't qualify him as being injury prone. People who have only artificially examined the issue believe he's injury prone. I wouldn't want him on the Rockets if he was. There's no need for anyone to believe this myth anymore. I repeat, Andrew Bynum is NOT injury prone.

Which is why I'm still honing my time machine so I can transport a healthy Yao and a young Hakeem to our time before utilizing my brainwashing machine on the masses after they sign again with the Rockets.

If we get Dwight, worse case scenario we sign and trade somewhere, his options in free agency will be limited... He could be dare i say the biggest Asset of all time!!!!
