Good explanation. I have a question then. If teams can't sign guys to contracts without being able to fit that contract in under the salary cap....what is the purpose of a "Luxury Tax".

In other words, in what situations would a team pay Luxury Tax if they can never sign a contract that puts them over the cap. I'm confused here.

    Williams
    Johnson
    Wallace
    Humphries
    Lopez

Still a very strong team. Humphries and Wallace can make up for Lopez's lack of rebounding. Deron is a good rebounder as well.

My biggest question at this point is.............

Will Dwight sign an extension in Orlando?

Not championship contenders as long as Miami is around though. Probably not better than 5th seed for that matter.

Do they still want him if he's going to be demanding a trade and making a stink in the media every 5 minutes?

They should be top 3 in the East barring injury. Will be interesting to see them matchup against Miami.

They can sign players when they are over the cap to exception contracts. The MLE is somewhere around 3.5 million now. They can also sign minimum deals. You can also trade for players as long as your salaries are within certain percentages of each other. You can also sign your draft picks and resign your own players. Salaries escalate quickly. So a team like the Nets will have to pay the luxury tax because they are going to sign their own guys that they drafted to extensions using their "bird rights." Bird rights allow the team to sign a player despite salary cap room.

Yeah it's a very good team. I think they could win the East and compete for a title. I don't think they are better than Miami, but they might be and they might work better as a unit.

Bynum is not a "Superstar", He's a star. There aren't that many Superstars in the league. Superstars a people Like Jordan, Kobe, Majic, Shaq, The Dream & Durrant. Stars are like Kevin Love, Bosh, Joe Johnson, and others.

I have a funny feeling the Dwight deal is already done and they're just waiting for Deron to sign on in Brooklyn before announcing the Dwight trade.

Good good. Thats good news. I wouldnt be interested in Brook Lopez either. Thats the softest big man ever. Even softer than Rick Smits. You guys might actually get one and Morey might do something finally. You can hang it on your wall tomorrow or post pics of Morey staring at the camera guy all day to the bashers.

Would an LA/Orlando straight up deal be possible? Bynum+Whatever (takebacks, anything) for Howard? That was scuttled by Bynum saying he wouldn't resign, but was there anything else?

Because our deal being the best hinging entirely on Bynum being consistent isn't something that's gonna help me sleep, ya know.

Dude you're a troll. In no world is Bynum a superstar. This is crazy. He hasn't even contributed as much the the lakers championships as gasol.
