With four-team Dwight Howard deal no longer in play, source says Houston is calling teams with cap space looking to dump more salary. The Rockets are still pushing hard to put the best package in front of Orlando, though @EricPincus is reporting the Rockets' target may be the Lakers' Andrew Bynum. Per Pincus, the Magic, Rockets and Lakers have had preliminary talks about a deal that would send Howard to the Lakers, Bynum to Houston and picks/prospects/cap relief to Orlando.

    Because his supporting cast sucks.

Did you not see him carry them to the Finals?

This would make sense if the Rockets are trying to get a third team involved to help mitigate the bad contracts coming from Orlando.

No one believes this Bynum 3-way do they? It's something fans from here and LA have been dreaming of, so of course Hoopsworld decides to start the rumor that it's actually being discussed, because that's what hoopsworld does in order to get clicks/attention. Alex Kennedy then acts like he's heard it for the same reason, and then any other report is just sourcing them. Rockets are pushing for Howard, not Bynum. Pretty easy to smell this one out, IMO.

Until Woj or local Houston/Orlando guys have a report from their source, don't believe anything.

Anyone have any ideas on what it would take to get a team with cap space (CLE, CHA, etc) involved to help take on a bad contract or two from Orlando??

Jarrod Rudolph: Magic and Nets trying to simplify the deal. Still hopeful that deal can be completed. Still focused on dealing Howard to Brooklyn, for now 3 minutes ago

Funny, if true. As much as the rest of the world believes the Nets have perhaps the least to offer, the Magic seem hellbent to ship him north instead of west.

No, Jarrod Rudolph is just the mouthpiece for Dwight Howard's camp. He has been working equally as hard as Dan Fegan to get Dwight in Brooklyn. And when he says Magic AND Nets, I'm willing to bet in reality, it's JUST the Nets. Just because the Nets keep calling with different offers doesn't mean the Magic are going to take them.

    From Marc Stein:

Rockets and Magic discussing direct two-team deals for Dwight-to-HOU & three-team scenario reported by @EricPincus.

"Direct two-team deal"? **** just got real.

Is there any way we could make the salaries work getting both Gasol & Bynum? Tons of assets to Orlando -> Scola and Howard to LA -> Bynum and Gasol to Houston?

The magic GM is that bartender making five different last calls to the apathetic patrons. Just close the bar down already. At that price no one wants your stale brew.
