Side note: The only way the Bynum trade makes sense for us is if we take back NONE of the horrible contracts, and don't give away a buttload of assets. I understand we'd have to give some, but let LA facilitate the majority share of stuff, they are the ones getting the Superstar in this deal.

    Something like:
Rockets out: Martin, Toronto pick, Dallas Pick, a 2nd rounder is more than enough for Bynum maybe even too much.

Let the Lakers take back all the horrible contracts.

The problem with a trade like this the way we are constructed:
    1) Bynum isn't a superstar that is going to draw other superstars to Houston, so we are back at having an above average role player leading the way.
    2) Bynum is just good enough to make sure we get another 14th pick.
    3) Bynum is a b*tch.

too many moving parts for it to work. Then you have the scola problem. Neither team will want his contract which is why it makes sense SI says they are trying to dump him right now

One wants an extension, the other does not.

One has post moves and a refined offensive game, the other is an overrated turd.

One is 24, the other is 26.

I threw Al Jefferson out there because I cant think of another free agent. It was purely hypothetical.

And the Clippers arent gonna be on the rise. Griffin is grossly overrated, as was shown in the playoffs this year. They will be a consistent playoff team and nothing more than that. He wont ever win as a Clipper...specially given their owner.

I'd rather sign Bynum in FA, but this is great too.

Don't want to give up White/Lamb/Motie though

So what happens after Bynum? Are we still in rebuild mode? Are we eaking into the playoffs? We need another superstar after that to compete for title.

Yeah my bad. Was only taking the Bynum for our pieces aspect. LAL would have to give other pieces.... Goudelock, Ebanks etc...

It's still better than anything New Jersey can offer, haha.

But I agree they will ask for more. And we should be willing to give it.

Okay Bynum may not draw other superstars BUT he is better than any player we have had in the past several years. He is a player we can build around.

And he is 24 and has improved greatly over the past several years. He already is an elite big and should be a star.

Ah, ok.....although still....if the Lakers aren't giving up Gasol, that still makes it pretty uneven.

The interesting part is Bynum not wanting to play in Orlando and that being and Orlando deal breaker. I mean I understand it, but isn't that the exact same thing Dwight says about Houston? Again, i understand that concept of Houston taking the risk on a rental. That said, I'd be far more inclined to believe Dwight would walk than Bynum, who woudl seem to be more about the money at this point.

Again, just a curiosity. Maybe Hennigan really doesn't want to risk anything, but I wouldn't put it past him... which would mean the whole theory that there is no possible trade with the Lakers without someone like Houston doesn't make sense. For one, maybe a Cleveland does step in in that scenario and play the Houston role. Bynum apparently likes Cleveland, too. Or maybe Orlando just says screw it, we'll trade straight up for Bynum... ESPECIALLY if they get Bynum and Gasol. It's not the cap space rebuild approach, but would give Devos another year of respectability...

Houston isn't going to get the most fair end of the deal. We are going to have to overpay a little to get certain guys. LA should be giving up more though. Not really sure what else they got to offer though.

scolas contract is also a year longer, the Lakers would be in tax hell. I think if morey can dump scola ala Joe Johnson this deal takes shape because martin, contracts and picks is all they would send out Lakers get to keep gasol and the magic get what they want, pics, expiring contracts
