Maybe that has been part of the hold up. Morey might prefer to get Bynum (with promise of extension) than Howard (without promise of extension), so he was holding out on offering his best deal to the Magic until it became a three team situation.

The Lakers better be giving up Pau or something. That would be a freakish team.

Don't believe it personally and don't want it to happen. Dwight to LA will make LA an unbeatable team in the West.

Bynum is no Dwight. Not nearly as impactful. We would have Bynum but no ability to get another major star and we'd be stuck. Not to mention we'd be giving up the same assets as it took to get Dwight.

No way Morey gets played into giving up the same assets for Bynum as Dwight. No way.

The only thing I don't like about this rumor is:

    Nash
    Kobe
    Gasol
    Howard

LA will basically be an All-Star team by themselves. It will be down between Miami and LA for who wins the Finals for the next couple years at least.

Yes please we get a franchise center who, if rumors are to be believed, actually wants to be here.

Comon, jsmee! You know better than that.:) Anyway, the senerio I'd like to see is Howard to the Lakers & Bynum to the Rockets; followed next year by Bynum extending with us & Howard signing with the Nets! Yes, I'm in the "STICK IT TO THE lAKERS" camp!

I don't like it. Even with an extended Bynum, this would be the second time we've lent a helping hand to L.A. to form well, a dynasty.

    Nash
    Kobe
    ???
    Gasol
    Howard

is ridiculous. Having a star center ourselves would be nice but it wouldn't be nearly enough to defeat a team with 4 HOFers on the team. I still say we should go for Dwight. If we get him and he bolts, then we rebuild. At least the Western Conference would be somewhat beatable.

The Rockets are now an extremely young team and Bynum makes a whole lot more sense on a variety of levels. If they can get him and sign him to a long term deal, they can still miss the playoffs next year and continue to build around him. At 24, he's a perfect fit with the core the Rockets now have. Howard will not sign with a team that cannot make the playoffs next year. Give him to the Lakers and let them fight to win it all next year then fight to get that extension while the Rockets focus on developing a very good core.
