He would not have opted in if he was willing to give up extra year and higher raises easily. He knows Houston will not help him get to another team. His effort to try to force his way to where wants with the money he wants makes me think the money is very important. He could be in Brooklyn right now if it was an easy decision to leave Bird raises and extra year on the table.

Love and Cousins are the centerpieces for their respective teams...those players are the start of their rebuilding process. Why would those teams be interested in giving up their best player for draft picks and expiring contracts? They would be taking 2 steps back.

It takes two to tango. Magic have their dancing shoes on. Minnesota, etc. do not.

Yeah, I know I was just throwing that out there. I want our own guys I can get behind, as I've said before like Lamb, White, Parson, D-Mo and future draft picks!!

Dwight to me is what is wrong with the NBA!! I really don't want to have to root for him this year (as a Rocket lover I would have too). Not to mention all the drama and if his back holds up or not.

Did you root for Tmac? If so, was it really that painful?

I don't know about you, but the circumstances that brought him here didn't matter to me one bit.

He came, he saw, he balled. I cheered.

Then he collapsed in a heap and died.

But whatever, I got my money's worth.

They are over the cap right now. Even if they don't sign Lopez. Between JJ, Deron and Gerald Wallace they do not have the cap room to sign Dwight to the max no matter what they do with the rest of their roster.

There is no conceivable way they could get a max offer out to Dwight as a straight free agent. They'd have to trade Wallace and then have nothing on their team except Deron and JJ with expiring contracts at every other spot. Then they'd have to let all those guys go after the year, renounce their rights to them and sign Dwight to the max. But then they wouldn't be able to field a 5 man rotation, let alone have depth.

My original argument was that he wouldn't need the max. I don't think he would sign for 3mil but he might for 10 mil with all the extra cash he would get working out of NY and all the love he would get for being "the non-selfish" superstar that just wants to win.

I don't think they could even work it to offer him $10 million.

If the Nets are going to get him it will be by trade.

I had no problem with T-Mac, he didn't block a trade to Houston at the begining and I don't remember him getting a coach fired. But T-Mac is also the reason that acquiring a guy that depends on athleticism to be great, that also has back problems is also painful to watch.

Ok. I surrender. I would love for this deal to go down with Houston if all we gave up was the toronto pick, dallas pick, and a future first from us plus Martin, Ppat and Terrenc Jones (even though I think he is going to be a really good starter), but all of this year's draft picks, and future draft picks is just too big a gamble. Maybe he would want to play with Dirk and CPE in Dallas? I can't believe Morey is the only genious enough to come up with a deal to lure Howard year after next.
