Simple question what is the most you are willing to give for a potential rental Dwight Howard trade?

(Remember we probably have to take on Jrich and probably Duhon or something)

    My opinion:
    -Martin expiring
    -Terrence Jones
    -Either one of Parsons/White/Morris
    -Patterson
    -Toronto Pick, the Dallas pick
-And the unguaranteed contracts to match

If he does decide to bolt we will be dread awful the season after, but we will be able to keep some talented players like Lamb, Motie, one or two of our SFs maybe Asik or Lin unless they are matched.

    I would do

    K-mart
Royce White/Terrence Jones (Whoever Orlando Likes better)
    Toronto and Dallas Pick
    And one other piece

If I include Chandler, than take out one of the 1st rounders and add two second rounders

IMO, too much is White, Lamb, and D-Mo

I think we need to keep two of the three, anything else they can have.

I used to think you had to be a complete moron or homer to NOT want Dwight.. but honestly at this point I feel like trying to get him will not work. There's a 99% he'll leave, and we already suck enough to get high draft picks anyway so the part where he leaves and we suck aspect doesn't apply anymore.
Idk, I just don't want to lose some of our young prospects right now.. I'm actually excited about them.

    I feel the same way.

    Why delay the rebuild?

Focus on getting rid of Martin and Scola and lets see what these guys can do.

Thing is some of them have to go, there is too much of a glut at several positions which would limit development of the players

I think most of the offers discussed on the board are probably too much and if we do get Dwight it will ultimately be for less than people think.

I seriously want to hang onto Donuts, Parsons, Lamb and White. Just haven't got any good vibes from Jones yet.

Those four guys are intriguing, and it really seems like they could form a good core for a long time, predicated upon acquiring a good center as well.

Of course, we have only ever seen Parsons play, so that could all just be wishful thinking.

But just IMHO, any of the other pieces we have, I would be willing have in play as trade bait, but really really hoping those four stay in Rox unis.

I think a related question that is just as important is how many bad contracts would you be willing to take back.

I'm not sure how many bad contracts we CAN take back exactly (if anyone specifically knows, please chime in), but I would be willing to take on as many as three bad contracts: Turkgolu, Richardson and Duhon.

In addition to that, I would give up:

    -Dallas and Toronto picks
    -Martin
-All unguaranteed and partially guaranteed contracts
-Any of the following: Patterson, Morris, Lamb, Jones, Donatus.

I will be severely disappointing if they give up White and/or Parsons. I realize I may be overvaluing what they will become, but I think those are both special players and would not give them up for a rental. I like Donatus and Lamb too, but not nearly as much and I rate them as worth spending on gambling with Dwight.

I wouldn't take all three of the bad contracts. Then you are just the same as Orlando, the place he is miserable.

Everything is too much for a rental. Rental is nothing more than that. A setback.

    Exactly.

Then who will you bring in to entice Dwight to stay? All 3 of those is about 20mil in cap space right there. Dwight can go and we'd still have these guys on the roster.

Unless you could amnesty Hedo? Don't think we could though, not sure about that rule.

Because it's a "rental" (where we could lose Howard as a FA or via a S&T) I would rather not give up Royce White or Chandler Parsons. Not all of these players mind you, but I am more willing to move some combination of Motie, Morris, Lamb, Patterson, Jones, picks Scola/Martin in deals.

Thing is that's probably what it would take to get Dwight unless they are really desperate

Keep White, Lamb, Parson, D-MO and Future 1st rounders!!!!!!

But I pretty much don't even want Dwight when I think about how much of a Biatch he has been and how much drama we would have here in Houston. Would he play or complain about his back? Will he keep demanding a trade? Will he get the coach fired (which I know some would like)? Would he get Morey fired (which if he gives up all our young players and 1st rounders for a rental, I think he should get fired). I would be a hard season to root for the Rockets. Dwight is exactly the type of player that has cost me from loving the NBA.

Nope, you couldn't amnesty any of those players.

One thing they might get creative and try to do is do a trade for Dwight that includes Martin and then absorb say, Duhon Q-Rich and Reddick as the bad deals. Duhon and QRich both have two years left and Reddick is an expiring.

Need to see what the cap looks like after deals go through and whether or not we get a trade exception for the Lowry deal.

I disagree. Orlando was depending on those bad contract players to perform, Houston would not be.

Turk for instance would be the backup for Parsons, and Parson's low cost high value contract makes up for the fact that Turk is under-performing. Orlando did not have that.

Same thing with Richardson. He could just back up Lee (who would be brought back if Houston gets Howard), and would not be depended on to be the most important perimeter scoring threat on the team.

Duhon would have a similar backup role, but, much like Livingston this season, he only has 1 mill guaranteed next season (just like Turk only has like 6 mill guaranteed in 2013-2014 season).

Les is not a rich owner and the idea of him getting stuck in luxury tax hell is unlikely to be fulfilled.

I don't want to give up d-mo, lamb or white. White I would be OKAY with but everybody else nah. I typically don't have problem with players who demand trades, are outspoken, etc. because I feel like teams do with they want with players so players can do what they want. Having said that I really can't stand howard at all, it's to the point now where I really don't even want dude to be honest.
