True. My thought about landing Dwight is that ultimately if he doesn't re-sign, you're in the toilet anyway...and that the trade is not about what Dwight will bring you in 2013, but rather what he'll bring you if he opts to stay here because he doesn't want to leave that much money on the table. I would assume it would take a year or two to put the kind of talent we'll need around him to be a super contender.

I wouldn't have a problem with adding Bynum...though I'd have to think about it more if it meant Dwight was going to sign long term with the Lake Show.

For those of you who are still hoping we get Howard, you can forget it. Orlando is obviously trying to get what Dwight wants. Dwight wants Brooklyn.

What would be Orlando's motivation to do this? Even if Dwight had been classy about this (and he hasn't), Orlando is still going to what is best for the future of the franchise. They would send him to the Bobcats if Charlotte could offer them the best return.

this is why our interest in Eric Gordon just seemed like a sick joke to me...

although I guess Bynum's injury history isn't much better....

So what's Orlando's incentive to give Howard what he wants? And why would Orlando want to create a second powerhouse team in their conference? Basically, they would be digging their grave for the next 10 years by giving Dwight and the Nets what they want.

    It makes zero sense.

Orl GM: Why would we want to trade Howard in our division and for less than what we can get with Houston?

Stern: Because if you do, I will guarantee you will get the first pick in next year's draft if you get into the lottery.

Orl GM: Interesting. I thought the lottery was fair. Guess not. Count me in.

ORL. Isn't going to keep him in the EAST for the scrub package
the nets are dumping on them....morey hasn't even given out his final offer
which will be accepted bc it will be so dramatic of addition to the trade I.e. picks
The Rockets weren't the front runner for TMAC he had said Hou, or PHX...PHX had what looked like a brilliant package! We needed up with TMAC it took a while to complete, but similar to now it was all about Orlando waiting
To JUMP on the trade that gives them Kmart's expiring scola, picks, more picks, rookies, whatever-morey got this the longer it took for them to do it
The more assets we've gained, and are gaining
CLee hasn't been signed n traded yet bc if we get Dwight then we keep CLee!

Big guys generally get injured. You weigh that injury risk vs. the risk of praying for a #1 pick(franchise centers are never taken below pick 1) in the right draft for a guy that isn't an injury risk. The latter is just incredibly unlikely. While getting maybe 3 out of 5 good seasons of Bynum or Howard where they carry you during the playoffs is something I'll take. Even if the other 2 seasons are mediocrities.

Not sure why you're so afraid of playing against Howard. Are there any other teams that the Rockets aren't allowed to trade with, or is it just the Lakers? Were you mad when we let them get Artest?

Its not necessarily about being scared to play the Lakers...its about giving the Lakers a couple more championships.

[rQUOTEr]The Orlando Magic have re-opened negotiations with teams other than the Brooklyn Nets for Dwight Howard, a league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The Atlanta Hawks are one of the teams but "not the best option," the source said.[/rQUOTEr]

[rquoter]Multiple league executives told ESPN.com on Sunday that there is growing reluctance among some teams to participate in the sort of three-team deal that would get Howard to Brooklyn, amid some leaguewide dissatisfaction that the Los Angeles Lakers were able to swing a deal for Steve Nash last week.

Being the cog in creating another super team in Brooklyn, with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson already in the mix, is not palatable to some teams concerned about competitive balance.

"You can talk about the new (luxury) tax all you want, but if the Lakers get Nash and the Nets get Howard, then what did the new CBA accomplish?" one GM said. "You have to realize part of long-term planning is making sure you don't help create teams you can't beat."[/rquoter]

It's not about Howard just going to the Lakers. It's the same principle as to why the Magic shouldn't trade Dwight to Brooklyn. Why help a team IN YOUR CONFERENCE create a superteam?? You're blocking your OWN path by doing that. The Rockets have zero incentive in helping the Lakers create a dynasty.....getting Andrew Bynum would soften the blow a tad bit, but we still wouldn't be contenders against the Lakers with him.

Cleveland has no reason to help and every reason to hinder another superteam partnership being formed in Brooklyn.
