Do you just take what ESPN tells you and accept it as fact?

Its blatantly obvious that the Nets package is something the Magic want no part of.

Why the 11th? Is it because of Lopez and Humphries?

Bynum is not nearly as good as Howard. Howard is an elite defender who can completely shut down the other team in the paint while still giving you 20+ a night. Bynum is NOT that guy. ON top of not being as good on the court, he's significantly more immature (hard to believe lol) and does not play with nearly the basketball passion.

There is a reason the Lakers would trade Bynum for Howard.

Howard is also a guy that players will flock to. Bynum is not.

There is an easy, painless way that Morey can wreck the Dwight to Brooklyn trade. Instead of presenting the fruitless offer sheets to Lin and Asik, present a max, 4 year $58 million dollar offer sheet to Lopez. New Jersey will have to match, because otherwise they will have no center. Then Lopez can't be traded to Orlando until December 15th, and even then, not without his consent.

Why would Lopez sign our offer sheet? Because he will get to stay in Brooklyn with a title contender, instead of going to Orlando and at best playing on a first round playoff loser, but probably lottery team.

but you are forgetting one important thing that separates them, and is of crucial interest to Houston ....Howard doesn't want to be here. He has said that he will not sign an extension. Bynum has not said anything of the sort.

People talk about building around Howard and forget to mention that there's a very good chance he will not be here for the long-term. That makes difference.

    Bynum resign > Howard rental

I'm not interested in handing them a guy who is only 26 years old but has been 1st team all NBA for 5 seasons and defensive player of the year 3 times.

I do not see Bynum being as good as Dwight. Maybe I'll be wrong. But in my view, Dwight is clearly better than Bynum...and, thus, it makes sense.

I'm not so proud that I won't be party to a trade that helps LA if it helps us as well. Rockets fan first, Laker hater second.

Bynum isn't as good, nor will he ever be. And if we can't get Dwight here, it is in our best interest to help him stay in the East, keep our cap space, picks, and youngsters, and wait for the next opportunity to acquire a superstar to present itself. I'm sure this is the plan. I'll be shocked if we facilitate Dwight to LA.....unless somehow it leaves us with the players and assets to build a better unit than Kobe, Nash, Dwight....which is highly doubtful.

I hear ya...and that's a fair point. I guess I have to decide if I think adding Bynum and his baggage is worth handing Dwight to the Lakers. I'm not sure I'm there yet.

the Rockets need to be concerned about themselves first an foremost. Bynum has still managed superstar efficiency while being as low as 4th on the totum pole in LA at times. That translates well to becoming The Man - Option Numero Uno

considering Morey's risk averse nature I don't think it's a reach to assume landing an extended Bynum would outweigh landing an unsigned Dwight

don't underate the baggage Dwight would bring with him to LA...I would love to see that experiment blow up in their faces and Dwight walk at the end of the season due to clashing egos

I'm not so sure that Bynum has more baggage than Dwight.

I'm all for giving less assets to get in on a Howard to LA trade and nab Bynum. I'm not for giving up enough assets to pry Howard out of Orlando only to wind up with Bynum. There is a difference.

with all that baggage, he's still been a 3x defensive player of the year and is far and away the best center in the game right now.

dwight's baggage seems to affect his game less than bynum's affects his game.

Bynum's knees and bad attitude worry me
Howard's back and attitude worry me

Half of me thinks maybe I dont want either one.

These past 10 years have ruined me as a fan

Seems it was affecting his entire team/coaching staff last year before he went down with the injury. Who knows how he'll react if he's traded anywhere but the Nets. I'm still not going to be against us obtaining Howard, but the next year is going to be full of drama and hand-wringing around what's going to happen in the summer of '13 if we do land him.
