He played his ass off, despite having a legit injury.

I'll miss him as well. Every team could use a guy like him.

Part of the deal all along. We hint at overpaying for Lin -> Morey is really just wanting to trade Marcus. We force NYK to either give us Lin, spend tons of money, or trade us something we want. Genius.

We should create a thread tracking Morey's draft picks.

Currently he has a potential of having three first round draft picks in 2013.

One of our own which is lotto protected (in our favor, otherwise to Nets which was sent to Atl.)

Another which is DAL which is top 20 protected (in Dallas' favor, which was sent to LAL then sent to Hou in the Fisher trade)

Another which is Toronto's which is uniquely protected 4-14, 3-14, 2-14 and completely unprotected thereafter.

I do not know if we have any second round picks this upcoming draft which is our own.

I would bet a good amount of money that Kevin Martin or Scola (or both) will net us at least one more first-round pick (protected).

I believe this to be a solid trade for sure, but seriously some of you guys need to stop exaggerating every middling move Morey makes.
I don't think I've every seen a guy get so consistently celebrated for such underwhelming results.

We get it regardless of where it is in the draft order.

So... NY has decided to (1) sign Lin a older backup/mentor in Kidd, (2) expend part of its S&T assets on an interior player and (3) spend fairly large $ on Steve Novak, who complemented Lin very well and whose rise coincided with Lin's. All signs pointing to NY preparing to bring Lin back.

So, why doesn't Morey just up the Lin offer sheet to the Omer Asik level ($5M, $5.2M, $14.9M) and make NY suffer even more for Lin's third season if they are 100% prepared to match? The Rockets will never need to actually pay the money (and its cap impact is only $1M more per year than the original offer even if they do have to pay it) so why not make NYK pay tax on $5M more in salaries?

Which is pretty common with traded 2nd round picks, unlike 1st rounders.

I think today's trade is reason #1 he won't do that.

an example where you have a protected second round pick would be when we traded David Andersen + Cash considerations for a (I believe this is what we traded for) protected second round pick (I think 51-55 or something like that).

Somehow I think that those picks will be worth more than the bodies thrown in although Douglas may stick at PG. Looks like a full scale rebuilding is now underway and it's way overdue.

Not a Morey fan, but I am amazed what he got in this trade. Camby was a goner anyway. I don't understand why NY did this. There must be something more. Did the Rockets cancel the Linn deal?
