I actually saw a farm right by Lake Conroe the other day selling organic beef and raw milk. Another one I know about is out in Tomball.

They're around just outside the 'burbs for sure.

When I buy organic meats from a grocery store, how do I really know that the meats are organic? Never know if they can pass regular meat as an organic meat...I know it's illegal but just wondering...

They have to pay for a license from the USDA. Certified organic products will have this symbol:

Not to say that this is foolproof though. I'm not sure how often they audit these farms to check up on their practices but I do know that it is expensive and takes a long time to be certified organic.

Georgia's Farm to Market on I10 and Eldridge? is all organic food from local suppliers. Lots of good stuff there.

Edit: They also sell a lot of organic cleaning supplies and natural yard fertilizers.

Randalls has grass fed ground beef at decent price. It's pre-packaged.

Organic milk is pretty much the only truly organic product I buy. The overuse of antibiotics and hormones in the dairy industry is rampant.

We recently went to a restaurant in Baltimore and inadvertently had an exchange almost verbatim to this one.
