That sounds like a problem for poors and fats.

The worst is when this happens with your co-workers. When I was in Korea, we would all regularly go out and eat together. We liked to go to those Korean BBQ places (bulgogi), where you cook everything yourself in the center of the table over hot coals. They give you tongs to flip your meat on your grill. Unfortunately for us, my boss would always just start flipping the meat...WITH HIS CHOPSTICKS. Yeah, I ended up just eating a lot of kimchi & lettuce.

exactly. aside from eating lunch specials at chinese restaurants, i can't remember ever seeing somebody ordering their own entire entree and eating it for dinner. that's why they serve them into the middle of the table with an oversized serving spoon rather than putting them in front of the individuals.

maybe you and i are the abnormal ones? pretty shocking thread to me.

i am in shock that this is unusual to you. when you eat out at chinese restaurants, your table seriously never shares entrees?

We were in Asia...I made it out fine. One night after a few Hite & Soju I did meet some random Korean dudes and ate Kimchi soup from a giant bowl in the middle of the table. Maybe it was the thought of eating after my boss that grossed me out at the bulgogi place.

I almost never eat at Chinese restaurants. Always thought Chinese food was kind of bottom of the barrel in terms of quality... Would pick Japanese or even Thai before Chinese (and that's after Italian, French, Spanish, American, Mexican, etc).

I like sharing because I have a very small appetite, although I usually end up getting the bum end of that deal because I eat less...

Otherwise I order for myself and end up with 2-3 meals.

if you go to Jus Mac, this is the only way you will want to eat. Their mac is really good, but there are so many options that it is a lot more fun going with a few people, ordering different styles, and splitting them between the group.

If the restaurant has large entrees served with a large serving spoon, everybody has their own separate plates that you serve yourself then I am cool with it. I never will eat food out of a plate that somebody else ate out of. That is kind of gross. I hate when bunch of people have to eat soup out of one bowl, I usually refrain from that situation.

Why would anybody ever do that? Don't they have a ladle and a bunch of smaller bowls for people to use?

Also I'm choosing to ignore Bigtexxx, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

it's not that uncommon, unless your boss has terrible oral hygiene and is oblivious of that

Only places I like to do that are at chinese food restaurants (other than traditional family style restaurants and tapas). I'd rather get a little bit of everything than eat a full plate of orange beef.

Strange as it seems I have seen people do that at some Asian restaurants.

Was born here and got accustomed to ordering dishes for myself even in large groups. When I visited the Philippines there was a time we ended up sharing after I ordered my own personal dish. I initially thought everyone was getting their own until the food came out and everyone started passing dishes around. People started asking for some of my dish and I was like ! Of course I offered, but that totally threw me off. Didn't want to be a douche bag in front of my wife's family. What got me was when we footed half the bill for about 10 people. Good thing I ordered 2 appetizers....

I hate sharing pizza. I want the whole box to myself.

I also share when I'm out with the GF. Not because I'm cheap, but because she orders half the menu and I have to take some of her burden.
