Donatas can't be traded until August 3rd. Maybe that's slowing up this trade (or other trades)? I can dream, though I can't imagine others teams are putting a great deal of stock in a player who hasn't played one minute in the NBA.

Valid, except the bad deal will get even worse the longer they wait IF one assumes that Dwight won't expand his options.

Of course, that's playing chicken with Dwight just like DM and the Rockets want to do. Testing Dwight on his threat to just walk in free agency, which nobody thinks he wants to do.

At this point, it shouldn't be that difficult for Magic management to tell Dwight that his likelihood of getting dealt to Brooklyn is almost 0. They just don't have the assets. So expand your list now, or we'll just play out the season and trade you at the deadline to whomever for a couple of draft picks and expirings and salvage something. And it's not a threat or leverage or whatever. It's the truth, and surely Dwight's agent can understand that, because it's obvious. The Magic don't want the Nets scraps and low draft picks.

Orlando doesn't have to tell Dwight anything. They can dump him like a cheating girlfriend if they want to.

John Hollinger: From Nets perspective, MarShon Brooks chose a bad time to go 0-for-10 with 4 turnovers in a summer league game. 4 minutes ago

    HAHAHA. :grin::grin::grin::grin:

I'm sure it doesn't matter much though. If Stern wants it done, the trade will go through

No it won't. Because there will always be at least one team willing to rent Howard Randy Johnson/Beltran style at the deadline. And it will probably be for more than a handful of crappy low 1st rounders.

There is a floor to what the Magic is most certain to receive for Dwight Howard regardless of Howard's childish antics. And that floor is likely at or above what the Nets are offering right now.

Brooks is probably gonna tank these summer league games to stay in Brooklyn.

    ^reply, underrated.

On the low.....people wanna know why Morey always comes up short...

His lack of relationship with agents and assets may turn off a LOT of people.

Morey's best bet is to build from within cause seems like only mid-range talent wants to come here.

There has to be something to players not liking to be treated as pawns.

    Just sayin...

Agreed. That's why Brooklyn is screwed. Nobody is going to want to play for them after they try to sign and trade virtually their entire roster off to other teams in order to get a superstar.

    Oh wait...

and its about time, thats the only way we can develop these young guys, that can potentially become superstars if given the right opportunities, and playing time. I have high hopes for Donuts, Lamb, Morris, and Parsons. I hope one of these players step up to the plate!

That's proposal alone should be enough to get Hennigan fired. Not to mention the Max contract Lopez needs to sign.

If thats what Orlando is getting is going down. If its close to other offers then its the Nets who get him for obvious reasons.

it's also a way to setback a young players career by destroying his confidence if he's not ready for bigger minutes especially in a losing environment.

There is no possible way that Orlando accepts that god awful offer. If they do, Henny is either bigger dummy than Otis Smith, or there is some serious collusion going down.

This trade doesn't make too much sense as the 3 or 4 1st rounders from NJ would be low first round picks if Howard goes to the Nets. The only "good" pick that they would have is from Houston next year, which is Top 14 protected anyway. Also, why would Lopez agree to an SnT for $58mm when he wants $75mm.

The Nets don't own Houston's 1st round pick anymore. It went to the Hawks on the JJ trade.

Woj didn't include the diamonds and rubies that the Niets owner will include in a smuggled basketball.
