    It's all about MVP's. Steve Nash is better than Shaq, Hakeem, Kobe. And Derrick Rose is better than Stockton and Payton.

    The Kobe/Lebron comparison is about that individual accolades vs championships in regards to legacy. That's why I brought up Gasol/Barkley. Same concept.

    How is Barkley/Dirk a valid comparison at all? Dirk has not only accomplished everything Barkley has, but he's also won a title and was FMVP. How could anyone possibly argue that Barkley has a better legacy than Dirk?

    LOL what a terrible terrible argument.

    overall accomplishments mean much more than "just rings"

    if lebron wins 2-3 more rings/finals mvp's with 1-2 more mvp's with the individual stats he puts up he will be considered a greater player than kobe by most and move into top 5 all time.

    jordan was widely considered the best player ever after 3 rings in the 90's.

    Barkley was a better player than Dirk. He was a more efficient scorer, a better rebounder, and a better passer. He had the misfortune of running into the GOAT.

    Exactly. It will most likely happen someday. So why are people so quick to hand Lebron that title right now and getting their panties in a bunch?

    Barkley was a more efficient scorer, but not by much. And Dirk is a better defensive player than Barkley was. They both have an MVP, plenty of all-star/all-nba appearances, and great stats.

    But ultimately for them, it comes down to championships. Barkley doesn't have any. Dirk has a ring and a FMVP. That's why Dirk's legacy is greater than Barkley's.

    some people are just caught up in the moment because lebron had arguably a greater postseason than kobe's ever had but lebron still needs multiple rings and finals mvp's to match kobe.

    as of right now imo

    kobe = top 10
    lebron = top 15

    What a stupid argument. Here's what you're saying:

    Kobe has subpar stats, 5 championships, 2 FMVP, and 1 MVP.

    And in order for Lebron to surpass him, he'd need at least far superior statistics, 3 championships, 3 FMVP, and 4 MVP's?

    Ever heard of the term "overkill"? Such a r****ded argument...

    What you guys fail to realize is that if Lebron has another season like the one he just had (MVP + FMVP), everyone (even Kobe fanatics like Goodbug) will be forced to acknowledge that he's had a greater career than Kobe. Right now, the evidence that he's already surpassed Kobe is persuasive. But if you add another MVP and FMVP, it's undeniable.

    LOL, I don't know what you are smoking. LeBron bolted and grouponed his ring, he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as an all time great like Kobe. Groupon deal is cheap for a reason.

    Once again you are kinda saying kobe sucks. Your posts are eerily similar to SacTown's. Except SacTown posts actually make sense every once in a while.

    Only if you completely ignore that Kobe does have three other rings as the number 2 guy. If you went around and asked NBA players if they would rather have Kobe or Lebron's career right now I think you'd find that an overwhelming majority would take Kobe's.

    Except I'm not. In the context of a player's legacy, Kobe's fg% is supbar when you consider the fact that he's a scorer. Let's compare.

    Kobe's highest ever TS% was 58%. Lebron has surpassed that 4 times (in 9 years). Dirk has surpassed that 7 times (in 14 years). Paul Pierce has surpassed that 6 times (in 14 years). Kevin Martin has surpassed it 5 times (in 10 years). Ginobili has surpassed it 8 times (in 10 years). Durant has surpassed it 3 times (in 5 years). Even Wade has surpassed it 2 times (in 9 years).

    So when describing Kobe's stats, how is "subpar" an unfair adjective?

    Nope, not ignored. I just feel that 2 more MVP's and far superior stats are more impressive than 1 FMVP and 3 championships as a sidekick.

    Because "par" usually means average. Subpar means below average. Below average means you suck.

    The stats aren't as far superior as you make them out to be but of course you are entitled to feel that way about it being more impressive. However, it's a completely different story when you make it out to be a no contest type of scenario like you have been.

    Factually speaking, Kobe's greatest accomplishment is his excellent longevity, much like John Stockton. He's never been the best player in any given season and his peak isn't as good as the top tier. He has had some very memorable regular-season scoring accomplishments (the 81 points, 62 in 3 quarters, 40pt streaks, and others), but, ultimately, those weren't that meaningful in the grand scheme of things. He'll go down as an all-time great for sure, but he has no shot at the upper echelon top-10. LeBron does, and that's the difference.

    No. Kobe's will to win alone is more impressive than anything I've ever seen from LBJ. LBJ is just a big ass bully. His skill level, in my opinion, is nowhere near Kobe's. He's 16 years deap into his career and his sill one of the most prominent players in the league. Also, the lakers would suck so bad without him. The heat on the other hand could manage, not win a championship but do decent, without LBJ.
