We are on the same wavelength. I'd prefer to get Howard alone, and perhaps Hedo. I don't want Richardson or Glen Davis. Of the young players, I'd like to keep at least one of Parsons, D-Mo, Lamb or White. But this is not a deal where I do that much haggling. Howard is the end game, and I would do what it took to seal the deal.

I wrote this back in December after Stern blocked the Gasol deal.

And I remember writing this back in March on the night of the trade deadline. It was 6 AM and I was a bit...crazy. But I am right about one thing.

how far in advance can a pick be traded - for example can the nets trade an unprotected 2023 pick to the cavs? i mean that pick probably will come after dwill/howard/jj are off the team and most likely will be back in the lottery

i can see a team biting on a far future pick if it means taking on humphries - a player who can contribute - but isnt critical

If he ends up in Brooklyn, I am leaning towards thinking somebody promised him something behind closed doors. Stern and his minions at it again?

    Someone promised Dwight something?

Dwight doesn't have control here. If someone is getting something, it's the Magic.

Everyone in the last 2 pages talking like how this deal is done but I haven't read anything that's concrete and legit anywhere (A reporter from realgm, really?). You guys are jumping the boat too soon.

If this happens I have lost complete faith in the NBA, and its backdoor handshake deals.

Can you honestly tell me that a soon to be overpaid Brooks Lopez, and a couple super crappy draft picks can even come close to competing with Houstons offer?

In all honesty Ill be a bit relieved if Houston does not obtain Dwight Howard, and rebuilds from the ground up, but you can't help but feel like Houston is getting screwed over once again by the powers that be.

-To be fair, its possible that even though Morey is still pursuing Dwight, he might not be willing to give up as much as we might think for the rental services. If thats the case then its understandeable, and Im a little bit happy about that.

But If for some reason Morey is offering what the Rockets have the ability to offer, IE multiple awesome draft picks, major Salary cap relief, nice young talent, etc. then there is something either going on with the Orlando GM's intelligence level, or there is some backdoor handshake deal going on.

Im usually not one to buy into conspiracies, but this is too obvious to ignore. What in their right might would want to make Orlando accept this BS offer??? IMO, you are better off calling Dwights bluff and letting him walk at the end of the year and risk losing him for nothing. This is a stupid decision by Orlando thats going to set their franchise back a decade.

I'm wondering if Morey is holding out for Hedo and Dan is wanting him to take JRich and Duhon.

Not about faith. The Rox have the best deal for a rebuild on the table. Orlando just wants more and they're exerting pressure by getting involved in contract dump talks. Put it together, Brooklyn is going to have to take on major salary. How are they gonna do that deal? Lopez is holding out for the max to go to Orlando. That makes him BYC....that's the first complication. Now, you gonna have to do the same thing for a bunch of other guys. And then you're going to be limited in what salary you can take back. This is a huge bunch of nothing.

I'm not going to walk through the details. Bima or Carl can do that. But needless to say, it's pointless. Morey knows just exactly how much salary Brooklyn can take on and where all the monkey games end. Orlando is desparately hoping Atlanta, LAL, or LAC, or somebody else besides Houston steps up to the plate and offers them more than what Morey has on the table.

We should be grateful if Houston doesn't get DHoward. This is the type of stupid trade that will set us back a decade.

I'm not seeing the Cavs addition as any help. They appear to be giving nothing...

Seriously, the Nets would be in a financial mess with this trade.

    Joe Johnson=$19,752, 645
    Dwight Howard=$19,536,360
    Deron Williams=$17,177,193
    Gerald Wallace=$8,900,00
    Mirza Teletovic=$3,000,000
    Total=$68,366,198 for 5 players (starting 5)

    Can anybody give some insight?

They can pay the tax. But they're screwing themselves into a corner regarding cap flexibility. One of those guys goes down, they are stuck with a terrible contract and no ability to move it except for a longer, worse one.
