Wait... Why would you need to go to the ER when high? I mean, give them some taco bell and a Zeppelin album and they're set. I imagine alot of those visits are related with other drugs or alcohol.
Hightop if you are opposed to the war on drugs and drugs are decriminilized, would you support any government regulation of the now legal drugs? I know that you are against government intrusion on free markets, but would you support any gov't effort to tax, regulate advertising, or regulate access. What is your plan for legalizing drugs?
America has a two party system. High school civics fail. Or you can write in a candidate. Relevancy fail. Or you can not vote. STFU fail Which fail are you?
It's obviously not seeing as there are multiple people in high positions in the federal government that are neither conservative or liberal. Your position that a politician who is not liberal is conservative is simply wrong.
It's not just Democrats. Almost everyone in politics seems to love the "War on Drugs." And they're all idiots.
^Longer prison terms for any crime, violent and non-violent, and more leeway for vigilantism such as killing runaway thieves under the castle doctrine despite the homicide occurring outside of the home...and of course increasing penalties for selling and purchasing drugs.
Has nothing to do with the philosophy of any political ideology that I know of (what political ideology by definition supports longer prison terms?). Just because a government is strict doesn't mean this is due to some political ideology. Maybe the leader is just a dick.
Fair point...Republicans want to appear tougher on crime by taking a proactive stance on prosecution and sentencing. Democrats aren't far behind, but are more reactive to wherever the wind blows...
The cluster**** failure called the "War on Drugs" is not really a partisan thing. It's a money thing....both Democrats and Republicans love the money they get from corporate interests. Bloated gov't agencies love the fat budgets they get.
Wait... democrats are the ones wanting the war on drugs? I mean, I know a few mainstream dems that support it. But majority of democrats oppose the war on drugs.
Yes. To end the war on drugs you would need to deregulate drugs. deregulation of drugs is primarily pushed by all Libertarians and some Conservatives. I can't think of any liberals or Democrats that support deregulating some/all drugs (not to say there aren't any). The War on Drugs has definitely been kicked up a notch under Obama as Hightop has pointed out very often.
I've been disappointed with Obama on this issue, mainly as I don't think he needs a Nixonian "tough on crime" platform to get reelected (this election isn't about crime). I'm not really sure I've seen a good explanation of why he's escalated. Seems like a no gainer. However, it does appear the public sentiment is moving more in the legalization direction.
The WoD has hardly been "kicked up a notch," though I lament that it hasn't been brought down one either. There are easily as many Democrats who support ending the WoD as there are Republicans. If you can't believe that, you are deluding yourself.
