I hate seeing this posted most of the time (because I know it is usually true) but, I do not see us from the 10-20 range of next year's draft (using our own pick)

If you clone him now he will be useless. All he can do is laugh like a weirdo.

Play the young guns and go from there. I want to see development more than anything this season.

Develop what we have we drafted three guys in the top 20. Plus give Marcus Morris a real shot its year two. See what Parsons has got better at. Montiejunas gotta see what's up there. Sign Aaron Brooks. Create more cap space plus we got Toronto's pick for next year plus our own. We are in good position we just need to play these young guys develop them and then you have big names... A lot of these big name players these days are not really big time players regarding winning championships anyway.

Ryan Hollins plays hard and has some talent.
Would Jordan Hill be out of the question?
Joel Pryzbilla (if Blazers get HIbbert)

Trust me that won't be Houston next season. But plan B should be to sign Bynum since he actually see's himself here and a SnT for Ibaka with Scola & either Jones/Morris/Patterson since they'll more than likely extend Harden.

Yeah, I think both Lin and Asik get matched. I think that we pick up a few picks through Camby and Lee sign n' trades. I think we sign back brooks to a reasonable short-term deal. I think Scola gets moved, but we hold onto Martin till the trade deadline, when he's at max value. We probably move another PF for a young player we like at a position of need prior to the start of the season. I think we go into next season with the youth movement hoping one of our guys displays star potential, and hoping we end up with two high lotto picks.

To me, getting a 2nd tier star like josh smith is a huge waste of assets. We are not going to build a team that can compete with the likes of LA, OKC, and Miami around 2nd tier stars. Our best route now is to think long term, and find a couple of stars in the making. A few years from now when LA is on the decline and OKC is broken up, we'll be coming into our own, and we'll have a real chance to contend. But folks need to be patient, and I know that's asking a lot.

^^ I wouldn't be so quick to reject a 2nd tier star if you can get him at the right price and under the right contract. The 2nd tier star can be one of the pieces you trade for a first tier star or be there to complement the first tier star if you ever obtain one.

Remember, the goal isn't just to get one big name in the door, but to actually build a contender, which may require, among other things, a 2nd tier star, a good defensive center (like Asik), etc. and those are not that easy to find, either.

It's like football. If you are down 9 pts with 1 minute left, you need both a FG and a TD to win. So, if you have a FG available on 4th down, why not take it then go for the onside kick and the TD?
