Why would the Magic care about an expiring deal when that's the best they could hope for to match salary. If I'm them, one year of Martin >>> greater than 4-5 years of Lopez at 10 million, especially if the Rockets take on J-Rich and/or Hedo.

Secondly, there are restrictions on the number of players you can trade, but the Rockets have so many young pieces/similar caliber players, who cares if you have to give up 3 or 4 of them with picks to get this done. You win in the NBA with superstars. Role players are easy to find and Morey is an expert at doing it.

For example, Half of the Rockets team is made up of young prospects:

    Parsons
    Lamb
    White
    Motiejunas
    Jones
    Patterson
    Marcus Morris

None of these guys should stand in the way of getting Dwight Howard. If they do, then I'm disappointed in the Rockets front office.

Brook Lopez's contract is going to be a net negative. Why on earth would they want that? The guy can't rebound or play defense to save his life. Meanwhile, he played a total of 5 games last year which raises health concerns. What has he done thus far to warrant that kind of money? Why would they want Lopez and EXTREMELY late 1st rounders? Late first rounders are the worst value picks in the entire draft. It is almost as if they are getting solely negative value in return.

This is a joke. It's a ****ing joke. I didn't really care if Howard was coming to the Rockets. It's just hard to see that b**** get what he wants. Even worse to watch Dan ****ing Gilbert play the double standard after what he did to us. Apparently he doesn't care about super teams after all.

Wasn't the new CBA supposed to stop this? Oh that's right! Brooklyn is a large market so the ****ing rules don't apply. No veto this time around. They can actually "sign and trade people's bird rights" to create room for Dwight. Unbelievable! Only problem then is finding someone stupid enough to take on Brook Lopez's contract. Orlando conveniently wants him as a centerpiece so they can get a head start ****ing their own organization. Congrats Magic fans!

Most importantly congratulations NBA!!! We totally failed establishing any semblance of parity after seeking to do so. Patiently watching millionaires compare their dicks for half the year with the promise that things would be different. Great. Now we have the privilege of enduring a Nets-Heat ECF every ****ing year.

While ideally I wouldn't want to absorb Hedo and J-Rich's contracts, if that's the cost of getting a top 5 player and bonafide superstar, you make the deal. Superstars are next to impossible to acquire and a crapshoot to draft.

Remember that once you trade for Howard, you get to go over the cap to re-sign him. Adding those bad contracts wouldn't affect the amount of money you could offer him, just your ability to add talent around him until they expire. Plus, I trust Morey to find creative ways to move those contracts.

I don't get the whole Dan Gilbert thing either. Last year his panties were wet over CP3 going to Lakers and stuff but now its cool to help send Dwight to Nets? What a prick. But on the other hand, it seems that a lot of GMs are pissed around the league that the Lakers were able to pull off getting Steve Nash and aren't willing to help send Dwight to Lakers in a 3 team deal if Lakers and Orlando wanted to do that.

I don't understand why watching team USA practice keeps this from happening soon. If it doesn't happen soon it won't be because he took a trip to Vegas.

Maybe Dan Gilbert doesn't want to see LBJ win another title. Now you have a team that could potentially give them issues for the next few years.

Hennigan would not have gotten the job as GM of the Magic after spending time in the Spurs and Thunder franchises, only to trade Dwight for a maxed out Brooks Lopez. LOL. C'mon guys. This stuff is hillarious.

I would take both hedo and j-rich contracts along with sending out3/4prospects plus kmart and picks... BUT, id give pause if say orlando wanted me to take hedo, j-rich and glen davis along with sending out 4/5 prospects... hella even 3/4 prospects would scare me with all that crap ccontracts... its still a rental and if dwight walks were overly screwed... thats why i say go hard but morey will calculate the riak better than anyone...

David Aldridge reporting Billy King is going to Vegas to meet DWill at 9:01 p.m. tomorrow night to sign his max extension.

Wouldn't it be hillarious if Dwight is traded West before that and all of a sudden DWill backs out of his commitment? Obviously King isn't real confident in that commitment since he's gonna be waiting for the bell to ding to get DWill's signature on the line.

If by Dwight you mean Deron, then yes, yes it would be.

Look even I agree there's a line even I wouldn't cross. But I strongly expect Howard to re-sign with the team that acquires him via trade. He would be a Net right now if he didn't care about an extra 30 million dollars. That's why I'm willing to give up so much.

Hey, since he's been with the Spurs and OKC, Hennigan's been sprinkled with pixie dust by Pop/Buford/Presti. That makes him a must-hire for a franchise that wants to fly.

Right now, anybody in the front offices of the Spurs and OKC is considered "magic" and must be great GM material. Guilt by association, in a positive sense.

I'm coming around to that opinion but not having it as a certainty has me stopping at Parsons. I do not want to rent Howard for a year and then watch Parsons develop with another team.

Oh i also strongly agree he resigns with whoever trades for him... but i feel like you up the risk if you bring aling half his current team and thier bad contracts which is why they are stuck and dwight wants out... id give pause... i honestly still think we are the front horse no matter what the rumors are and whatnot... if he isnt traded than everything is still open...
