I'm not sure what you mean. Everyone knows the rules are different for LA, NYC, Miami, and Boston. The Rockets can't approach rebuilding the same way that the Lakers, Heat, Nets, Knicks, and Celtics can. It won't work.

Nets GM Billy King is flying to Vegas Monday morning to watch Deron Williams w/ Team USA. No Dwight Howard deal imminent, still work to do.

I do not mean this in a disrespectful way (but the technical way), but what an ignorant thing to say. There are so many variables (no, not excuses) to consider when you are talking about Brooklyn Nets vs Houston Rockets.

Although, even if you wanted to play that game. Consider what it took to get Deron from Utah.
"The Nets will send Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, two first-round draft picks and cash considerations to Utah for the All-Star point guard."

Favors, a young (19 at the time I think) prospect with HUGE upside and two first round picks is mainly what that deal was about (and a temp. pg).

At this pace, we will have a better package to offer by 2015 than what Nets offered for Deron (one of the main reasons Nets are an appealing place to resign).

You are complaining, but look at our roster strictly from a cap flexibility standpoint and young-prospect stand point since Yao and Tmac. You do realize that every SINGLE move made since Yao has put us in a better position to make a move, leading to a series of moves, like that?

    Per ESPN,

"Although the Nets have made Brooks available, sources say the Magic aren't interested and he's being shopped elsewhere, including Cleveland, to find a package that suits Orlando. "

SO if Orlando is not interested in Brooks ,how come Houston's package is not appealing to Orlando.
Either Morey is not be offering a lot .. Or Orlando is under too much pressure to trade Dwight to the Nets.

This thing with the nets is getting weird. Why would they not want Brooks? He has high potential.

Its about ten times more enticing then the offer the Rockets are offering. The Toronto pick may be a lottery pick but it wont be that high. Im guessing in the 11-14 range. Thats garbage. Only DM thinks this is a commodity worth Dwight Howard.

What else are the Rox going to offer. P Pat? LOL, M Morris. Two straight absolute failures. Martin...old unmotivated, coming off probably his worst year ever when not injured, and plays no D. Scola....No D and definately not a face of the franchise type player nor a future as he is old. Do people really see the Rox offer as fantastic?

The Magic saw it like this.

    1. Lakers and Bynum
    2. Nets and Lopez

Rockets offer of a middle of the rounds draft pick which wouldn't be worth crap and their over self valued trade assets.

I dont even know why the Magic are entertaining the idea of sending Howard to the Nets unless its just to scare the other teams. The Magic have absolutely no obligation to send Howard where he wants to go...and they shouldnt. They should only be bringing the Nets into the conversation to up the ante for other trades.

I could be completely wrong, but I get the sense that Orlando does not like Brooklyn's offer and is trying to get Houston to up the offer.
    From Wojo's article:
"As much as Hennigan prefers to send Howard to a Western Conference team, the Magic keep coming back to the Nets as the best, safest package. Howard’s preferred trade partner – Brooklyn – has pushed into overdrive in offering up trade scenarios and options for the Magic, sources said. For now, Orlando prefers Nets restricted free-agent center Brook Lopez as a centerpiece player over having its pick of the Houston Rockets' roster, sources said."
I would think Wojo's sources are someone close to Orlando's thinking: meaning Orlando. Looks like Brooklyn has not been able to come up with the goods; yet they go out of their way to downplay the Houston offer. This may be an attempt to get Morey to up the ante.

I actually feel sorry for Hennigan. He is dealing with a weak hand. The market has went crazy. Teams paying out all sorts of jack for JAP ballers. Not many teams with cap space, talent, and picks. And then the one guys he allegedly liked is backing out not wanting to have to stay in Orlando long-term. The longer this thing goes, the weaker Hennigan's position is going to become.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. Smoke and mirrors game out there. We'll see what happens but this doesn't guarantee anything until it's official.

Jeremy Lamb, Motiejunas, either Royce White or Parsons, plus the Toronto pick, as well as future picks. Three high upside young players, a lottery pick, and picks that will be better than the Nets picks. Martin serves the purpose of being an expiring contract, unlike 4 years of Brook Lopez(not a star) at 10 million dollars. If I'm blowing a team up, I'd rather gamble on 3 or 4 cheap players with talent than one above average player that's expensive.

I'd take a package of White, Lamb, DMo, Raptors pick and Dallas pick over Brook Lopez any day of the week.

Maybe Houston isn't attractive because Orl. just doesn't value any of our rookies ? All I've heard all week from the pro DH posters is that it's such a good trade for us, because our players are mid round, unproven high risk etc etc
