If Morey had been allowed to cut to a rebuild when Yao went off against the Lakers, we wouldn't be having this conversation. DM has done an amazing job of toeing the line with Les ......feeding the window of opportunity, then, backtracking all the while accumulating assets (while some depreciated).....ostensibly for a big deal, but with a possible rebuild on the backside. The problem is a matter of timeframes. Les wants at least a perceived window NOW and that handcuffs (as it did with Yao) Daryl.... The percentage play.... what is best on and off the court for this franchise IMO is for Daryl to rebuild us and for Kevin to teach, coach... instill a culture....... We have the people in place for a rebuild and it SEEMS like we're doing it, but Les won't allow it........
You're suggesting that the comment I take offense to is fine? So, let's call out MJ for being a bad owner because he's African-American? Try Sterling with his sterling racial record in his businesses if you want to call out an owner. Les being Jewish or a Yankee or whatever? This Board has dumbed down enough. To turn it into something subhuman is totally unacceptable. I doubt Third Eye has the Chuckster's platform from which to dish turrible dis.
I think Les is one of the better owners in the NBA. But there is a other way to be successful. Let me tell you about a former soccer player, former GM and now President of one of the most successful Club in the world. His name is Uli Hoeness(by the way he is a fan of the Houston Rockets). His key to success is loyalty. If you are a part of the family and you work your ass off there will be always place for you.Now nearly all key positions in his club are filled with former players. Back to Les. Why you let Rudy go??? Why we have a former Celtic as our coach??? Rudy is a true leader who always cared about people around him. With his knowledge of the game and players he would be a perfect GM(This is not against Daryl). Now to the coaching positions. There are plenty of former Rockets in the League. Why we can't give Mario or Sam a try???
he's lost the bulk of his wealth in recent years and is likely the poorest owner out of all 30 nba teams. this might be one of the reasons he is unwilling to weather a tanking season with decreased operating revenue.
He ain't no Bud Adams.... and that's a good thing! I think he is in the upper third of the league as far as owners go... he'll spend if the opportunity is there - but he's not gonna waste money if we don't have a legit shot. As far as not allowing the Rox to 'tank' - good for him!
Agreed, Les has spent money and made the big moves. They just haven't worked out. Injuries had a lot to do with it.
Speechless.... but I can understand if he were the poorest of owners which I doubt he is The Rockets are not a toy or cashbox.....
He didn't veto the OKC formation... That makes me hate him... He brought us two championships... That makes me love him... I'm split...
Les is a short sighted, cheapass, impatient, still thinks its the glory days, and as Red Foreman would have said it, Dumbass
I can't forgive him for the ugly uniforms AFTER winning two championships What team changes uniforms completely after winning 2 titles? Clearly motivated by money, but obviously not by taste.
I don't remember this one...I thought Rudy T left on his own volition because of his health. As for why he's spent so much time scouting for the Lakers when his autobiography's title is "A Rocket At Heart"...yeah, I don't know either. Refresh my memory on Rudy's departure, please? If what you're saying is true, it would sure explain why he never came back here.
I don't hate those uni's... I agree, it was tasteless after the titles, but still it wasn't that bad. I think the blue is a nice off color, plus, it was the 90's, that was the style...
