Lol. Oops with the jinx. On the bright side he's been pitching very well lately and Singleton looks like he's seeing the ball well again!

Trope's got off to a rough start in Lancaster. He gave up 2 runs in the first.

Got a quick 1st out, then gave up back to back hits. Stoffel is coming out to preserve the shutout. Men on 1st and 3rd, 1 out.

    LETS GET IT ON

*EDIT --- Ballgame: Stoffel came in and struck out his first batter. His 2nd batter grounded out to third to end the game. The shutout was preserved!!!

    Seaton's final line: 8.1ip, 3h, 0r, 0er, 2bb, 8k. Game score 83

Tropeano probably hates Lancaster right now...

Eh, he was going to get a 'welcome to Lancaster' party at some point.

The key will be making adjustments knowing that infield flies routinely leave the park there.

But not quite at the point where we can get a better read of where their tracks are headed. After about 45-50 games, we'll see who may be worth watching, and who's gonna be fodder. It seemed premature on my part to ask what I asked, but I still think Feliz should get some time in Greeneville before season's end.

Speaking of Greeneville, they earned a split of their doubleheader by winning 4-2.

They called the 2nd Greeneville game after 7 innings, confirming my suspicion that a night/night doubleheader is r****ded.

Well, minor league doubleheaders are typically 7 innings. Why they do that, I'll probably never know.

Probably so they finish early enough to go out for ice cream afterwards...

The final line on Trope's night was:
    6ip, 7h, 5r, 4er, 2bb, 3k's for a final game score of 41.

If that's the worst outing he throws all year, I'll take it. A little adversity in the Cali league is good for him. It'll force him to make adjustments start to start and not rely on his change-up to get guys out.

Boom. And Domingo Santana has just tied the game with a 2-run double in the bottom of the 9th.

And Meyer just sent him home for a 6-5 walkoff victory.

    Friday Stories

An unlikely person went 5-5 for OKC tonight.

    Ross Seaton putting everything together???

    Lancaster walk-off win??

The normally reliable Lexington bullpen failed once again.

Tri-City's on a streak that they probably want ended immediately.

    Let's play 2 in Greeneville!

    Recap

OKC needed 11 innings, but they were able to knock off New Orleans 5-4. Carlos Corporan went 5-5 with the game-winning RBI double in the top of the 11th. Yes, that actually happened. Crash Hessman added an RBI double of his own, J.B. Shuck went 2-4 with an RBI single, and Angel Sanchez went 2-4 with a sac fly and an RBI single. Armando Galarraga had pitched well until the wheels fell off for him in the 7th, when Nick Green knocked him out with a 3-run shot to tie the game. So, in 6+ innings, Mr. Almost-Perfect allowed 4 runs (all on homers) on 6 hits (solo homer and 3-run homer) and struck out 6. Juan Abreu tossed 2 scoreless, walking 1 and striking out 4. Mickey Storey got the win with 3 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 4.

Ross Seaton fired an absolute gem for Corpus as they blanked NW Arkansas 3-0. He had a no-hitter going until Yem Prades broke it up with a 1-out single in the 6th. Seaton went for the complete game, but only got 1 out while being thwarted by Paulo Orlando and Brian Fletcher. Jason Stoffel was called on to save the game and he did just that, striking out John Whittleman and inducing a groundout from Manny Pina for the final 2 outs, his 14th save of the season. Seaton ultimately went 8 1/3, allowing 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 8. Drew Locke and Jair Fernandez had RBI singles in the 4th. Andy Simunic had a sac fly in the 5th. Drew Muren went 3-3 with a run scored. He's had a hit in 16 of his 20 games with Corpus Christi.

Lancaster avoided the sweep with a breathtaking 6-5 walk-off win over Visalia! Domingo Santana came through in the clutch with a game-tying 2-run double, and then he scored the winning run as Jonathan Meyer's blooper dropped harmlessly to the grass. Way back in the 1st, Erik Castro hit a solo homer, his 12th of the season. Ben Orloff had a sac fly, and Meyer had another RBI single in the 8th. Nick Tropeano was off in his Hangar debut, as he went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits (2 solo homers to Yazy Arbelo), walking 4 and striking out 3. He uncorked 4 wild pitches tonight. He had 2 all season before tonight. Jose Trinidad pitched 3 scoreless for the victory, walking 2 and striking out 4.

Lexington blew it late as they walked off 5-4 losers in Hagerstown. The Suns got to Murilo Gouvea in the 8th to tie, and Dayan Diaz to win. Delino DeShields went 3-5 with a double and stole his 61st base of the season. He was also picked off 1st. Matt Duffy opened up the scoring with a solo blast in the 4th, his 12th of the season. He finished 2-4, also adding a double. Ryan McCurdy also drove in a run. Everyone had at least 1 hit except for Nolan Fontana, who at least drew a walk. Duffy and Justin Gominsky scored on a wild pitch from Kylin Turnbull in the 6th. Luis Cruz had a bare minimum quality start, allowing 7 hits (solo homer), walking 3, and striking out 5. Cutter Dykstra (Lenny's son) beat out an infield single with 2 outs in the 8th to tie the game. Tough luck for Gouvea. In 2 innings, he allowed 2 hits, the game-tying run, walked 1, and struck out 4. Diaz allowed a game-winning double to Steven Souza.

Tri-City got swept by State College, losing this one 3-1. After dominating everyone, the ValleyCats managed only 4 runs in this series. Jesse Wierzbicki's solo homer (1, 2 season) in the 5th was it. Andrew Aplin went 2-4. Vince Velasquez went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits (solo homer), walking 3 and striking out 4. Jeremiah Meiners threw 3 scoreless and hitless, walking 1 and striking out 2. Blake Ford finished it, walking 1 and striking out 1.

Greeneville split their doubleheader with Johnson City, losing 1-0 and winning 4-2. Terrell Joyce went 2-4 in Game 1. Adrian Houser threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits, walking 2, and fanning 6. Mike Hauschild hit Lance Jeffries with the 2 outs and the bases loaded in the 9th to give the Appy Cardinals the only run.

In Game 2, the Appy Astros got a 1-hitter. That 1 hit, however, was a 2-run homer in the 1st from Jeremy Schaffer that put the Appy Astros in a 2-0 hole. But, they responded late, scoring 4 unanswered across the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. Jose Monzon went solo in the 5th, his 2nd of the season. Ricky Gingras had an RBI groundout. Ariel Ovando scored the go-ahead run in the 6th as Gingras advanced to 2nd on an error, and then Jimmy Howick scored on a fielder's choice as an error allowed Angel Ibanez to reach base. Joyce went 3-3 with a double in this game. Richard Rodriguez allowed 2 runs on that 1 hit in 5 innings, walking 1 and striking out 5. Zach Dando got the win with 2 perfect innings, striking out 1.

The GCLstros got 2 in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th as they took down the Nationals 6-1. Carlos Correa went 1-4 with another double. Juan Santana went 2-4 with 3 RBI; a 2-run double and an RBI single. Darwin Rivera, Yonathan Mejia, and Wallace Gonzalez drove in 1 each. Mejia and Alfredo Gonzalez each had 2 hits. What a start from Michael Feliz, as he allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and fanned 4 in 8 innings of work. Juan Mojica finished it.

The Academy got burned by the Mariners, losing 11-6. All 6 Astros runs were scored in the 8th (5) and the 9th (1). Brauly Mejia went 2-5 with 2 RBI. Yoel Sifla and Frederick Serrano drove in 1 each. Juan Hernandez lasted 2 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 1.

    Random minor league note:
Cutter Dykstra (Lenny's boy) is currently dating actress Jamie Lynn Sigler of Entourage and the Sopranos fame. He was introduced to her by Nick Swisher and his wife Joanne Garcia.

It must be nice being a young professional athlete with famous friends. Life is unfair.

On a unrelated and completely factitious note, Cavan Biggio is hoping to be introduced to Ashley Simpson by Jeff Bagwell.

    Daily links:
BA's daily top performers - as expected Seaton had the best start in the minors last night. Houser and Feliz also put up top 10 short-season pitching performances. It's been a long time since a hitting prospect made this list.

The MILB.com recap of Seaton's game last night

An old look at Rio Ruiz - Ruiz has pretty much fallen off the map since signing. The club has said that he'll report to GCL with McCullers and Correa but there's no timeline on when that will happen.

O's Have Contacted Astros About Wandy Rodriguez - MLBtraderumors reports another team that's taking a look at Wandy. That makes the Yankee, Blue Jays and O's that have known interest or have sent scouts to see Wandy. There are several other teams with starting pitching holes that could take a look.

    From BA:
No. 5 on Prospect Hot Sheet

    GEORGE SPRINGER, CF
Team: high Class A Lancaster (California)
    Age: 22
    Why He's Here: .448/.529/.759 (13-for-29), 3 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBIs, 8 R, 4 BB, 9 SO
The Scoop: The 11th overall selection in the 2011 draft, Springer bypassed low Class A and earned an assignment to high Class A and the hitter's haven that is Lancaster. The center fielder acclimated slowly to professional ball in April, but he has has showed steady progress each month, culminating with a 1.288 OPS over the last week to push his season line to .315/.394/.566. During that stretch, only one minor leaguer bested Springer's 13 hits, including five for extra bases. Lauded for his wide tool set, Springer is showcasing his plus power and speed by registering both 17 home runs and 17 steals. Of concern: he has struck out in 26 percent of his plate appearances.

And the not so hot sheet.

Carlos Correa, ss, Astros: The No. 1 overall pick in June owns a .164/.215/.262 batting line in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League through his first two-plus weeks and 61 at-bats in pro ball. It's not an ideal start, though there are silver linings. First and foremost, Correa is 17 years old and doesn't turn 18 until September. Another reason to be encouraged for a turnaround: He's hitting the ball with authority when he does connect. Of Correa's 10 hits, six have gone for extra bases, so while he went 6-for-30 (.200) this week, he also smacked five doubles.

Still a great trade for the Astros getting a young switch hitting catcher for a 30 year old minor league outfielder.
