During the entire Heat series vs the Celtics, one thing that kept standing out to me was Ray would come clean off off ball screens and Rondo would almost never pass him the ball. It does not surprise me to hear he and Rondo had a bad relationship
Ray Allen may break the three point shooting percentage record this year with all the open looks he's going to get. Good pickup for the Heat. They still need a big, though.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>(Good fan tweet) Thx to Ray for 5 fun years. Celts nearly dealt him 2x, demoted him to 6th man, then signed Jet. They weren't loyal either.</p>— Bill Simmons (@sportsguy33) <a href="https://twitter.com/sportsguy33/status/221456422808985601" data-datetime="2012-07-07T04:11:40+00:00">July 7, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
LOL. I say this because Ray Allen deserves it. This is not about superfriends joining together. This is simply about one man, any man playing in the NBA, playing for what it is. A championship. I loved the Jesus Shuttlesworth movies and that has been a reflection of what Ray Allen wants. If joining the Miami Heat will make him get that ring than good for him. Honestly, I hated Ray Allen when he was with the Celtics but with the Heat - we Rocket fans have no ill will with that.
Good move for Allen and now they will certainly go after Camby and probably repeat this year. Nice going there Morey!
Wow. I'm not sure why any vet with a ring already on his resume and a chance to retire as a "Celt great" would turn all that down to sign with Miami. I guess he just wants more rings, or he felt disrespected after the falling out with Rondo and being MR. 1/2 to the "Big 2 and 1/2" in beantown. As for the "Miami hate", grow up man. Its really just penis envy at this point, you're actually hating on Allen for leaving a stacked team to go to another stacked team? Why would you have respect for Allen for winning a ring with Pierce and KG, but then lose respect for him because he wants to win rings with Lebron, Bosh and Wade? It doesn't make any kind of sense, and the even funnier thing is OKC which people called the "good guys" are rolling around with KD, WB, Harden and Ibaka. Just STFU, every team wants to be a super team, weren't people here orgasming about Deron and Dwight?
Are you seriously equating the Miami big 3 with the Celt's "big 3?" One team is stacked. The other used to be stacked, but has since become just saggy and wrinkled.
But they weren't saggy and wrinkled when they were made, which was my whole point. Pierce, KG and Allen all got together when they were still in their prime, and had around 4 years of awesome BBall going on with Rondo making plays and Perkins protecting the rim. That team was pretty much a superteam, why should Miami get any hate at all when the Lakers and Celts have built their own "super squad"? Just cause Miami has better superfriends doesn't make them more evil than other teams with inferior superfriends. As for Celts, they're still contenders as long as KG, Rondo and Pierce are on the team. They actually have some decent pieces, Sully is an instant contributor and they've already had good picks with Avery Bradley. Throw in Jeff Green in the mix and you have a pretty dangerous mix of savvy vets and youthful exuberance.
Its not just that its always been that way. Its that the NBA has been at its MOST successful that way. Fans clamor to see legacies made. If nobody is dominant, then there are no legacies. If MJ only won one championship? Basketball would be dead by now. Seriously that decade turned MJ into the god. This past decade turned Kobe into a quasi-god. This decade? Probably will turn LeBron into a quasi-god as well. People pay to watch SPECTACULAR players and duos and trios. I would love for the Rockets to win, but if it means stacking up superstars to win then so be it. It'll take time but it won't be impossible.
What's the point of being a fan of a small market team then if the same teams win over and over again? You guys are basically telling us to just accept this fact, bend over, and keep getting ****ed by these teams. Maybe it's easy for you guys to say this because you have never really stuck by one team. You don't know how it feels.
this reeks too much of the colin cowherd argument. like him talking about how great ratings are when the patriots are winning every year. parity isnt good? the NFL says hi. i don't understand as fans of basketball why you would bring up how successful the league is when theres dynasties and dominant teams. i mean do you as a fan care about the ratings the finals get? does it really mean anything to you to hear the finals get the highest rating every year? i hope not. yea the league loves it, they get those ratings, which allows them to make more money from advertising dollars, but for any fan, who cares? wouldnt you as a fan, rather be able to say oh well theres a handful of teams that can win it all this year, rather than saying well its the heat and then everyone else. guess its just difference of opinion
Allen hated Rondo, and it got really bad last season. I'm fine with this move, Heat now have 5 wings and only Bosh (and Haslem) as worthwhile bigs. Miller and Battier have next to no trade value.
If you are fine with this move, because they were going to win the championship next year anyway and this is just icing on the cake, then i'm with you. If you are fine with this move, because you do not believe their team can contend for a championship as constructed, because they have 5 wings (3 named Allen, Lebron, Wade) and only 2 bigs (1 named Bosh) you've lost me.
