Rockets will definitely have room for Asik and Lin offers if they renounce Lee's rights. With a little bit of maneuvering, they could probably keep Lee's cap hold on the books. I have to think at least one or two minor moves will be made. Not 100% sure on Weis. He's still on the books according to shamsports.com, although I heard something about Weis not playing professional basketball last year, which might cause the Rockets to lose his rights. Either way, who the hell cares? The draft pick rookie cap holds are currently counting against the Rockets' cap at 100% of the rookie scale salaries for their respective draft positions; however, since they are each likely to sign deals at 120% of the rookie scale salary, those cap figures will increase a little once they sign. For instance, Donatas Motiejunas signed today for 120% of his rookie scale salary, thereby causing the Rockets to lose an extra $227k or so in available cap room.
Marc J. Spears <s>@</s>SpearsNBAYahoo Free agent center Marcus Camby still visiting MIA on Saturday, but would now need a sign & trade from HOU to get deal done, source tells Y!
Random Marcus Camby Sign-and-Trade Proposal Houston receives: Dan Gadzuric, Jerome Jordan, Josh Harrellson and NYK's 2014 second round pick New York receives: Marcus Camby and Jon Brockman The trade could be formulated as two separate trades: Trade #1: Rockets sign Camby to multi-year deal with starting salary of up to $3,271,564 (which is larger than the Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception amount of $3.09M) and trade him to New York for the non-guaranteed contracts of Gadzuric and Jordan (who are immediately waived) and the Knicks' 2014 second rounder (they've already traded their 2013 pick). Trade #2: Rockets trade Brockman ($1M guaranteed salary) to New York for the non-guaranteed contract of Harrellson, clearing out an extra $1M in cap room for Houston that could be the difference between needing to renounce their rights to Courtney Lee or not. A second round pick and a bit of cap relief. Not bad for a guy you're about to lose for absolutely nothing.
I love these idea's Bima. I wonder how much sense Morey has, because these ideas work of great for us going forward. Brockman being dealt makes sense, I don't see the need for another PF.
Nah, If Bulls don't match I see Asik starting with Jon Leuer and Greg Smith as he's primary back-ups. If bulls match, Jon Leuer, Greg Smith and one of either Patterson and Motiejunas, will all have to man the center spot as a unit.
The Rockets will hand the heat next years title........ IF they let camby go to miami by giving them a sign/trade. do you think rockets will do this?
Yes, cause an over the hill Marcus Camby definitely makes the heat contenders. Smh, they were favorites with or without Camby.
Battier laughs. Stupid thread. Still do not understand why you young rooks are allowed to make threads in here. Please stop posting.
To get a 1st round pick for Camby who was leaving is a steal. So we'll have 3 1st round picks next season. Torontos, 76ers via Miami for camby and ours.
