With a PG like Nash, he might very well do. The only think left to see is how much Kobe is willing to give up the control of the offense.
So basically, if you "buddy up" when you're old its ok, but when you "buddy up" in your prime its not? What's the difference? That's like saying Killing someone when you're old is different killing someone when you're young, why should the age make a difference? If you think "buddying up" is a crime then don't make excuses for Kobe who whined about not getting enough help and KG who got paired up with Pierce and Allen, esp. when all of them are still in their prime when the Kobe/Gasol and Big 3 trades happen. Also you're buddying up comment doesn't even make sense, Lebron put up historic numbers to get his ring. What kind of "buddying up" results in heavier workload? When Kobe won his ring while shooting 40% through out the series, you can call that buddying up. 24-12-5? not so much.
Unless Bynum magically becomes quicker and more athletic it doesn't matter how much Bynum improves. If the Lakers don't get a long physical athletic swingman to slow down LeBron or Durant they're toast again. Artest doesn't cut it anymore and he hasn't for about 5 years now.
This move is smart for the Lakers, but it doesn't even guarantee them a Finals berth. I don't see how this is enough to get past the Zombies.
Actually Nash never knew how to play with a posting up bigman. See Shaq. And I don't think he'll work well with Bynum. He can work with Howard, however, who is more comfortable with P&R. Kobe, on the other hand, is the last person in the league that needs to prove he can work with a bigman, he won 5 with them. It's funny how ignorant KB haters are. Lakers need to trade either Bynum or Gasol, neither of them is effective playing in high post. That's the biggest problem.

This is an interesting trade. It definitely makes the Lakers better since they didn't give up anything in the present (although they are seriously crapping on their future). However, it doesn't really address their major weakness which is limiting penetrating point guards. Also, there are some serious questions as to how Nash and Kobe can mix since both really need the ball to be effective (Kobe and Payton didn't work very well and that was back in a more equal-opportunity offense). That said, Nash will get the bigs plenty of looks assuming Kobe doesn't demand the usual 25 shots a game, and that is really good for the Lakers. At 38, he is still a phenomenal player. I think that barring further trades, this keeps the Lakers contending hopes alive, but they won't get by OKC and athletic teams like the Clippers and Nuggets are still going to give them a hard time. But it makes for more must-watch TV next year which is always a good thing for the league.
Steve Nash made Jared Dudley and Channing Frye look decent. Not an easy thing to do. Will be fun to watch him with some actual talent.
Steve Nash makes a lot of people look great. He took a team that was basically Marion + scrubs to the #2 seed and to the WCF (should have been the Finals) in 2006 (all the Kobe fanbois cry about how bad Kobe had it when not considering that Nash's role players -- Bell, Barbosa, Diaw, etc are basically NBA journeymen). The question is how well he will do in a different system where he doesn't monopolize the ball and the game slows down. It didn't work with Porter & Shaq, but this Lakers team has a lot more frontcourt weapons. I personally think Nash is one of the best PGs still and he will be able to adapt, and at the very worst he is an incredible spot-up shooter option. But I don't think he's the game changer the Lakers need. Now if they were to parlay Bynum into Howard (which would be highway robbery), then they would be the favorites for sure.

At youth, these stars normally have unbelievable athleticism and explosion, when older... not so much. Imagine if Pierce, Allen, and KG came together in their respective primes, OMG
lol some people. Nash gave everything his prime to that franchise. Complete class act, from day 1 until going to the Lakers. Why anyone would burn jerseys is confusing to me. Hard-earned money -> clothing -> burning said clothing = wasting money.

A 38-yr old Steve Nash is going to look really dumb trying to stop the likes of Russell Westbrook and Tony Parker.
