Yeah. Except we dropped the QO on Lee and now Bulls can sign Lee and match Asik to completely destroy our team.

Bulls can sign Lee and match Asik only if Lee accepts no more than $3M a year.

I have a funny feeling Omer is going to back out of this commitment once he sees we have traded for Dwight.

You think we're trading for Dwight between now and the 11th(or 14)? Magic are in no hurry. They have all the way up until TC.

what team? there's no team here. even with Asik, this roster isn't a team.

if we're in it to rebuild, let's do it. committing $25 million to Asik was part of the original strategy...but it's out of sync with the reality of where we are.

Having Lin and Asik in the fold doesn't stop the rebuilding project, which is why I support both moves.

    Howard/Bynum/Gasol/Smith stops the rebuilding project.

Agreed. The first two I'd be OK with stopping the rebuilding project. The last two, not so much, unless Lin/Asik weren't matched and we got both.

It's really not - the Rockets don't want to stay in lotto land forever like the Clippers or be historically bad like Charlotte and have an ultra deep hole; they have to get in and get out, and adding a center with upside in his mid 20's isn't inconsistent with this. (Asik has some developing of his own to do...)

Asik(with his elite defense/rebounding as a young player) is someone you can't get from anywhere else, so it's a good move(we need to hit the minimum salary threshhold at least). It's much easier to find capable guards/wings through free agency, undrafted gems, oversea players... on cheap contracts.

It seems the same people who wanted DM to go get DeAndre Jordan are also whinning about spending the money on Asik? Jordan is a good rebounder and shot blocker but not much else outside of the highlight real dunk. His defense is not good and Hos offense consists of a lob pass throw down. Asik is a better defender and better rebounder well and blocs shots at about the same clip but is costing the Rockets about 2 million a year less.

I'm sure undrafted gems and oversea players will win championships for us.

    Oh wait...

Beggers can't be choosers. Also I'm talking about how to allocate money in rebuilding phase. Otherwise I'll gladly pay max for superstars if there's any available.

Asik is not better than Deandre Jordan at this point. One guy is starting and the other is not and both play on good teams. One guy plays an great amount of minutes and the other doesn't.

Asik is a much better player than Deandre Jordan.

You are falling victim to the hype.

Their stats are nearly identical, I wouldn't say he's a much better player than Jordan. One could argue that he has more upside/potential.

He's not. Asik was only playing behind Noah and Boozer because they're both making **** loads of money. They better be starting for that kind of money. Asik would also average more points per game if he would be allowed to take more than 2 shots.

One guy has an really good center playing in front of him the other guy is the only decent center on his team. Don't lose perspective.
