That's what you and several others were complaining about, no? That calling a fan is some sort of underhanded PR scheme designed to cover up whatever conspiracy they were brewing there.

As for the actual moves, I agree with some, not with the others. Overall, while I don't understand some of the moves, I'm willing to wait to see the offseason play itself out for more than 5 days before totally freaking out.

I don't agree with the Dragic decision-- don't see how a player option 3 seasons from now hurts their flexibility if they are OK with the salary for the first 3 season. I am OK with chasing Lin and Asik: both 2nd year players who demonstrated potential in limited (but not insignificant) minutes. Like with draft picks, you take bets on these guys (the salaries are bigger, but not so much and not for so many years that it'll stop you from making other moves). The Lowry trade is kind of meh-- thought that if they were to chase Dwight, maybe they should keep some talent around to play with him... but then again Lowry probably would have been included in a Dwight trade anyway, just like the Toronto pick will be.

The offseason is far from complete, but the team is at the very least putting themselves in a position to, as Clutch said, "sink or swim." Either some their young players and draft picks land them an elite player to build around, or you play these young guys and find out which ones are worth keeping. Sure, there are too many PFs so far, but it's not like one or more of them couldn't get shipped out any day-- look at the PG position and see how quickly things change.

I think he is trying to say that there are several other threads to discuss whether you agree with certain decisions Daryl has made...this thread was basically just to give people a little positive news and something you don't normally see from an organization...that's all....somehow you made it into Daryl Morey wasting time talking to fans instead of doing his job....I think keeping fans and season ticket holders happy is one of his jobs..anything that makes the rockets organization money is part of Daryls job and I'm sure Les Alexander agrees with that....but hey you are entitled to your opinion...

Oh, we're going forwards all right. Nothing but forwards, as a matter of fact.

Rudy Gay would be a better asest than anything on our roster right now. Who cares if he is not Durant, he still has value, and we probably would have Dwight right now( if he were on our team)

So does Morey really think all will be okay if we get, let's say Dwight?! Hell no! Selling your future for a guy that doesn't want to be here. Also with 8 PFs on the roster, I don't want Josh Smith anymore and definitely not Gasol so who is he chasing??

Exactly. Some people here are talking as though you were some kind of idiot being duped by Daryl Morey's call and not knowing that he's trying to keep you happy and keep you buying season tickets. Geez, a spectator sport wants to sell tickets and keep their customers happy? As Clyde Drexler would say: Ya think?

The only strange thing is why some people think this is a bad thing or that making money and trying to contend for a title are opposite rather than complementary things. If you want the team to be in position to win a title, the team needs the cash and the cash doesn't make itself.

Why are you even a fan of this team if all you do is criticize every single thing about them?? No crap it's a PR move, but every good businessman knows that it's ALWAYS about PR. You act like it's a bad thing, when it isn't.

I think you shouldnt be too concerned. Either we get him or we don't (and I believe it's LA to lose depending on how they feel about Bynum). If we don't get him, we rebuild and keep our youngsters. If we get him, he's staying definitely and he won't have a choice but to accept the situation. Why? Because if we get him, we're not trading him. At the end of the year he will look around and see that neither LA teams (BIMA can the clippers clear enough space next year?) Chicago, or NY teams have cap room to sign him as a free agent. Only Portland, Atlanta and Dallas maybe. But none of those teams will get him additional endorsements to make up for losing his bird rights. Sonic he went to those three cities he will really lose his bird money without beING able to get makeup endorsements. Thats why the time is now - he has to be traded to NY or LA or Chicago or lose the endorsement money for another 4-5 years. I bet he's goING to LA - I would be surprised if we can't beat nets offer.

The vast majority of the people here believe you. Some of us are just trying to crack jokes for what has been a few rough days.

It is all good, mate. Thanks for the story.

I believed you when you wrote it initially, then after reading comments by other users, I thought maybe Morey wrote it himself because he does do some unique things on the court with the Rockets like cake to the face and failed marriage proposals. I do not doubt Morey's phone call because he seems very open with twitter, his community presence unlike 99% of other NBA GMs.

Classy move by Daryl Morey (not uncommon for leaders of companies to do this, to gauge first-hand what their customers think).

Daryl Morey is a real asset to our Rockets.

Geez..I had no idea I had Rockets fever so bad! Waking up at 6 am to see if anything went down over night! lol. I am down with this post and will say again, this trade season ends in the winter, not July 4th, 5th or 18th!

When the splash happens, and it will, I see land! This is an instant re-build, and for me the Roxs have now stacked up assets out the wazoo. Much better then the slow torture we were headed for. It may take a year but hey, just watching Dallas twist is pretty entertaining right now! One and Done.

this will be a terrible year for a rocket fan.
but this was not the plan, at least no at the end of the last season.

Why bringing Camby and not trading Lee and dragic before?

probably Morey see at draft night that he could get Charlottes Nr2 taken Tyrus Thomas contract and believes cap space will be all in a year from now.

Maybe he is right and in a year from now at draft night we will be very happy with hundreds of option.

But it was very hard see Dragic, lee and lowry gone basicaly for nothing, all that was build in 2 years was blow in 2 days.
and it will be more harder watching the team the next year.

This will be a great year for Rockets fans. We've already gotten more excitment out of the this Summer than the past 3 combined. I will watch every minute of every Summer league game.

Basketball is entertainment, a distraction from real life, an outlet for passion.
The post-Yao Rockets had gotten a little stale. Now we are venturing into the unknown.

    Interesting times.

I do have to hand it to the Rockets this is one of the most entertaining offseasons ever. I've been checking twitter and Clutchfans like a crack addict. As a fan it's great to go through the ups and downs of how the team is going to look next season. Whether they end up with Howard, Asik, or Lin almost doesn't matter to me at this point. I'm just sitting here with my bucket of popcorn watching a great poker match.

Why not give him a player option?
