Of course he wants to keep season ticket holders. Every team does. Important part of the pro game is getting the support, financial and otherwise, of the fan base, even while your team is rebuilding rather than contending. What is wrong with it?
Of course the organization's apologists and homers wouldn't like the interpretation that I provided, but expendable in the sense that if dreammvp cancels his season tickets and/or remains disgruntled, it doesn't change anything for Morey. In laymen terms, he called and tried to placate him. If it doesn't work, oh well.
There is nothing wrong with it, but as a fan I want more from my GM than just a good PR guy. His job is to assemble the best team he possibly can....not sit on the phone talking to season ticket holders suggesting to them that this is all part of a bigger plan....... We have been waiting for years for this plan to develop and it seems that we are going backwards instead of forwards. You may contend that we are now "tanking" yet we go and offer guys like Asik and Lin millions of dollars. The mixed signals and no direction is puzzling and highly annoying as a fan.
It's nothing but a cheap pr trick and propaganda move. Even the slower apologists and homers on here should be able to understand that, but don't put too much faith in blind supporters to be able to comprehend anything.
Anyone who didn't believe the OP should take some time away from the board for a few days. Attacking this man for sharing his story with us is just childish and classless. Doesn't surprise me one bit with some of you. smh
So, if he spent 20 more minutes on the phone with Rob Hennigan, we would have Dwight Howard already? You can talk to a fan AND exploring trades, sometimes even on the same day. Would you rather have the team do nothing with season ticket holders and no effort to make the money that finances everything from player salary to purchasing draft picks?
I would rather have our GM assemble a team that can make the playoffs year in year out. I would rather have our GM have a clear direction as to where this team is headed. I would rather have our GM NOT lose our 2 best players within a 24 hour period. I would rather have our GM draft a center for once instead of using every pick on a forward. I would rather have our GM not give a backup center who isn't proven 25 million dollars. If you want to argue about trivial phone calls and supporting season ticket holders be my guest mr.herrera. My only concern is putting a winning product on the court and so far this off season he has failed miserably.
I can vouch for dreammvp as well. I have purchased tickets from you in years past so def great to hear that he took the time to speak with you. Thanks for sharing.
This. So far, Morey has been a wizard in PR work. We do not need more PR, we need results. He's been talking the talk for five years now and a phone call to a fan will not cover up for the bizarre moves that he has been making.
This is a thread about Morey calling dreammvp, which neither helps nor hampers the Rockets roster moves. We get it you are unhappy with the roster decisions and there are many other threads discussing them. It is wholly irrelevant to the question of whether this phone call, which is what this thread is about, is something negative.
What wizard of PR work? Signing Asik and Lin, letting Dragic go and trading Lowry all seem to really grind on you people. What's the PR wizardry angle in these?
My apologies....i guess the details that the OP discussed with Morey are apparently off topic? According to you we can only discuss whether the phone call was a good thing or bad thing? You make quite a bit of sense on most days my friend but today even you seem to be defending Morey to an extent that makes you look a bit silly.
Thanks for the support Mr. Herrera......the reason teams spend so much time marketing and pushing season tickets is because that is a big source of concrete income for them...the more season ticket holders, the more Corp. sponsors and advertisers etc...it all goes hand in hand....some people don't realize that..it all goes back to money....and its everybody's job in the organization from Les to Daryl to the door person to keep fans and season ticket holders happy....so if Daryl took a few minutes out of his day to make a season ticket holder feel like a part of the team and answer a few questions , I don't see a problem with it like so many others on here...I'm sure if the Orlando Magic would have called on the other line, he would have put me on hold and I would not mind one bit:grin:
