The fourth year of the Lin offer is a TEAM option. But, I hear you. I'm trying to figure out the Dragic thing too. I went from KNOWING Lowry would be gone pre-draft/during the draft, to thinking (or believing the reports of us asking the moon for him) "OK, Morey must truly value him and his contract and since Dragic was "let go", we're rolling with Lowry". Started thinking "Maybe Lowry IS valued tremendously by Morey/the org.".... I wanted Lowry GONE after coming out and saying he had to be moved if the coaching situation wasn't addressed (you just don't go there in the media - at least you USED to not go there - seems much more common now days, which is sad). But, to not re-sign Dragic, over a million or so per year difference and a partial guaranteed fourth year (he wanted a player option and we offered a partial option, compromising somewhat), then to move Lowry the next morning, is one I am struggling to make sense of. I spent many years in the corporate world and had to learn how to take a step back and think things through and attempt to look at all angles and through other's eyes before responding or "mouthing off" (LOVED the "jumping the gunners" thread someone started last night...lol). So, while I may not have initially agreed with ALL of Morey's moves, I've understood why he'd make almost every one of them. But, this one... unless he's truly got some info we're all not aware of such as the Magic telling him "if you can add another first round pick and...." or unless he's banking on being able to close the Howard deal and have enough cap room to offer Paul a max deal next summer, I'm not seeing this one. (also taking NY out of the Paul mix, knowing they'd match a backloaded contract for Lin?) The contract Dragic signed was fair market value. Now, I realize it was a small sample size. I realize he struggled mightily, as AB did with us, before being traded here. He also struggled or at least was inconsistent with us, UNTIL taking over the starter's job. I know there's be many nights he'd be put in and be taken out pretty quickly. Still, I'm just not understanding this one - as of right now anyway. Maybe later something happens to make us say "aahh, ok, now I see why he did this..."
one time grant hill called me to let me know that my pre-order of nba live was ready for pick-up at gamestop...
Like having the 7's in the card game "spite and malice." Yes, it's just like that! Soon, if *anyone* wants a powerforward, they will have to call Maury. Mwahahaha!
That's really cool that he would call a fan... However, I will really be down on morey (I've always been a supporter) if we trade for Dwight Howard. The guy WILL NOT sign with us, I wish he would but he won't! I wish DM would accept that. I'll be furious of we give up Lamb, White, or Motiejunas for one year of DH.
Last year of his contract is like 4 years away. He's freaking 26 years old. Dragic isn't gonna play like a franchise player for 3 years and then suddenly break down unless he becomes injured. So you're saying Morey didn't match because he's afraid a fully healthy Dragic will be injured 4 years from now? It doesn't compute, IMHO its highly likely Dragic took less from PHX, and we offered Lin the same contract we offered Dragic. Dragic probably asked 10M a year from Rox, but then offered PHX 8.5 a year.
I've known dreammvp for years and he is huge rockets fan and season ticket holder. He wouldn't make this up. Very cool that Morey took the time to talk to him.
Its all flexibility and control...Morey wants to have it. It's not about dragic sucking after 3 years, but simply that the team may need to change direction and Morey wants control at that point. It's typical Morey, i'm not sure why people think there's something else behind it..
Cool. I believe your story and Morey will make more moves before the season starts. I hope we will find out more next week when everything should be finalized with regards to teams getting their FAs signed or their rosters set. DH may still be in the Rocket's plans. IF DH does come here but decides not to resign with the Rockets, I believe the only way he can get a big contract that he will want will be through a SnT and that will benefit the Rockets anyways.
I do, what I can do, when I can do it ma'am... Dude should tell Morey to use the mind reading trick on the other GM's in the league...
The deal will pay Lin $5 million Year 1, $5.2 million in Year 2 and $9.3 million in Year 3, along with $9.3 million in Year 4 as a team option. so i doubt 8 million player option is the deal breaker because Lin's 3rd year is guaranteed
