The only reason Orlando have a better chances of re-signing Dwight is because they HAVE him.....if the ONLY team he said hed resign with is the nets and it is damn near IMPOSSIBLE now for them to sign him next year..who do you think has the best chance of signing him? The team that actually has him

He also has said that he would only sign with Brooklyn which is very close to impossible now, would require lots of trades that don't make sense.

My problem is that if we bet the farm on Howard (who is coming off of major back surgery) and trade away all of our picks and rookie talent, sure we surround him with a competitive aging team in Scola and Martin, but it's not a contending team. It's not the Lakers, it's not OKC, it's not Miami, it's not even close! Then we have to go through this again very soon (maybe even sooner if Howard bolts) and without the consolation of a title like Dallas has. This Is precisely what I don't want to happen. What is our aversion to rebuilding? We haven't freaking rebuilt in over 20 years and our last title was more than a decade and a half ago! I'm so tired of crap. I want something that lasts, not a fly-by-night collection of soon-to-be has-beens whose best case scenario is a second round playoff exit!

He also said that he'd sign in Dallas which everyone seems to have forgotten about.

    Rep for this.

I want players to grow with. I want players who WANT to be a Rocket, want to win for this city.

Not some quick hope and a prayer that we could force a unhappy superstar to play for us....which every other team in the NBA has decided is not worth the risk, history should show it's not worth the risk....

I meant by I think you would have to. Team under salary cap absorbing additional $4.25M creates $4.25M trade exception.

If we do infact trade for dwight its all about making him HAPPY......wed have the cap space to not only resign lee but go for a max next year. Iam not 100% sure of that but if thats true that = Josh Smith...i doubt he says no to that because that trumps every other combo except for brooklyns' which he cant go to. Than next year we can have a core of Howard and Smith with alot of good players. Thats my thinking

If we get Howard, can we move him to Power Forward?

Yeah, probably should have said they were a better team. They dont have a roster full of 3/4 combo players and a backup point guard with 1 knee. Like a few people have already said, adding him to the team won't make us anything close to a contender. The majority of our promising young talent would be gone, and we'd have even more holes to fill. On top of that, we would probably be firmly back into mediocrity and the 14th pick.

Well even when it was rumored that the plan was to get Dwight on draft day and make a run for Dwill that still didn't seem to change Howard's mind.

I think it's just simply he doesn't want to play here. Could be the whole angle about him wanting to go to a team that doesn't have a history of great centers.

Am I the only one who is curious to see an all "tweener" PF starting lineup?

I am intrigued by this idea too, if some of these tweeners could shoot the three ball then you could trot out a golden state type lineup. It all depends what these guys can do, if they are all typical PFs with post games then no but if some of them has handles and can shoot then it might be a fun team to watch. Mind you that gimmicky teams are fun to watch but never win championships.

Well, if they don't get Howard they will moderately tank and still have an interesting young roster. Win.
If they get Howard and lose him, they can maybe trade him at the deadline, make the playoffs, or tank in 2013-14 with a better draft coming. Win.
If they get Howard and keep him, there is your franchise player and they can still possibly get Chris Paul. Win.

They are stuck with bloated contracts... no youthful players with upside... theyre star player is being traded because he doesnt want to be there and has caused a circus...

You must realize we have so much youth that even after the trade we will still have youthful players... sure we have no pg right now, but really, how long will that last...

We are in an infinately better situation... even after we trade alot of assests our situation will be better than orlandos...
