I knew it. I said earlier on twitter that I wouldn't be surprised if Morey is still going after Howard. This move seemed too peculiar to just be for a draft pick. Morey must really think he can get Howard.
As long as they were going to make these moves even if D12 wasn't coming here. That's what I'm worried about. Them making moves whose success is totally contingent upon Howard coming here. If he doesn't end up here after we've traded away all our assets for magic beans... ugh. As long as we have a plan for the magic beans as well, I suppose.
It's not about us outbidding Brooklyn next year. THEY ABSOLUTELY CAN'T SIGN HIM NEXT SUMMER. They won't have cap room. Please understand. LeBron left when he could still get a max bird deal by S&T. New rules don't allow that anymore. It's become very apparent to me that most people don't realize how different the two situations are.
I also think its about dwight still... we still have solid veteran starters and promising youth to surround him... also if we fail in our attempt we are also ready to tank/rebuild. Still curious as to hoe the pg situation plays out and who we sign...
Considering Jameer Nelson is going to stay in Orlando I'm thinking that's a main reason why we traded Lowry to the Raptors since another pick is more attractive than Lowry and dare I say WE HAVE AN AGREEEMENT WITH ORLANDO IN PLACE. While I'm not a fan of Dwight coming here any longer I think it's finally become a reality that it may really be happening. Due to the fact that we've finally accumalated not only the right number of sheer assets but also the right combination of assets that appeals to Orlando. Dwight isn't going to stay in Orlando no matter what. But he still needs to make a pit-stop somewhere before he signs an extension. I think the only place that's capable of accomadating that pit stop is Houston. I think we were so hell bent on getting Dwight that Morry depleted his own assets (maybe moreso than he wanted) but it looks like it's finally gonna come into fruition.
I cannot imagine any scenario that Howard ends up here where we retain Martin and Scola, who are pretty much all of our "solid veterans" at this point. Unless we land Asik and resign Lee. And Asik becomes redundant if Howard ends up here anyway.
No. It is not. I mentioned that in my last post as well. Warmly Welcome Dwight Howard. Warmly Welcome.
Not that I want to keep Martin and Scola but I don't think Orlando really wants them as it doesn't seem to me like they're looking for "solid veterans" hence why the move for Lowry was made with Toronto and not the Magic.
Peter Vecsey: Donation of Lowry to Toronto gives Houston ample room 2 fit Orlando Magic into its cap. At very least, creates enough room to take DH & Hedo 2 minutes ago
Wouldn't go that far, but I absolutely think we checked in with Orlando to see if this was the more attractive asset before we made the deal. It is very peculiar that this went down when we missed out on Dragic. We still don't have a C on our roster (yet), and now we don't have an NBA caliber PG either. Gotta think that Morey has some sort of assurance that something will work itself out.
It has nothing to do with Brooklyn....the "IN" thing is to pick where you want to go, Dwight isn't picking and wont be satisfied until "HE" chooses, the location can vary but it has to be "HIS" choice....you know Pre-Maddona mode.
You see, I didn't even bring up that. I said the point is Dwight does not want to play here. Why do you think every other team outside of the Rockets have given up on Howard? I don't want a guy that doesn't want to be here and CERTAINLY don't want to give up the farm on a guy who doesn't want to be here. Pretty sure I just said I forgot Lebron was traded.
Probably true, but can you see them both on the team with Howard? I can't. Especially Scola, given the ridiculous logjam we have at the 4.
Please no!! I was finally happy with the direction the team was heading and now I might have to root for that a$$hat Howard. He's already ruined one franchise, doesn't want to be in Houston and has back problems. I was looking forward to watching the young guys and now might have to put up with a circus for a year, great.
LOL at lottery picks now being worthless. You traded a 14 & 7 PG for a lottery pick. Remember when Mike James was great? Remember when Aaron Brooks was great? Remember when Kyle Lowry was great? Remember when Goran Dragic was great? While I'm disappointed to lose both Lowry and Dragic, I do remember that these guys aren't necessarily what we make them out to be. I think we got fair value for Lowry.
