Saw it yesterday it was decent but not great, I've never been a fan of the character so even the original films never did much for me.

Garfield I liked a lot better as Parker / Spidey. Since they went for an origin story again with only a few cosmetic changes, some it was kind of a bear to sit through especially since it's kind of slow moving and overlong.

Some of the action sequences felt awkward, they just had a strange feel. The Lizard kind o looked unintentionally funny from time to time.

I spent 23 bucks a ticket or 46 for two last night. It was at one of those fancy new VIP Movie Theaters where they server you alcohol. You have a huge wide leather lazy boy type seat with automatic reclining. The theater is designed to be upscale where the people in front and next to your are really far away :)

it's pricey but totally worth it to avoid loud smelly people around you :)

just to add my two cents on the movie without any spoilers..

It's worth watching but is not amazing by any sense. I like the actors better than the original. The acting/dialogue in this movie is more realistic than the original. The original had those annoying one liners. I would say the biggest improvement is Stone over Dunst and the Aunt May. Dunst (Mary Jane) just became an annoying whiny character who's only role was to scream at the top of her lungs in a really annoying pitch. Stone (Gwen Stacy) has brains and actually helps out Spidy.
Aunt may in the old one was an annoying old fart who gives you crap lessons and annoying fortune cookie type advice. So acting in this one is way better but I agree with others it doesn't quite have the magic since it's all been done before. Still a good movie 7/10

As I get older the problem I find with many movies is, OK, great visuals and/or great story and/or great acting....but what's the point? If the movie didn't exist, would it matter? (see also: Summer Movies, Most)

How did the movie do in its first weekend numbers? I can't believe it will outshine Spiderman 1. This has all been done before

It had best Tuesday opening I believe, topping the first Transformers. And it's on pace to hit about 150, which is less than Spidey 2.

    So it's doing good.

    Just saw it. 8/10 easily.

Much better than I had anticipated. Totally different than the Toby guy. Garfield's Parker is too whiney and cries too much for my liking. Btw I would like to have teh secks with Emma Stone. Also there were scenes where I lol'd and I was the only one loling. Awkward.

If you're in it for the action, you be disappoint. I feel like they were trying to rake in some of the Twilight crowd with the Drama. If they make a second one, I hope they give Spidey a little more sass. I remember only TWO scenes where he ran his mouth.

I don't agree with the direction they went with revealing Parker's identity to so many people. With Parker breaking up with Stacy, does that mean they'll bring in mar1juana as his new love interest?

Question: Right in the end Parker said (about promises he can't keep) "it's the best kind." What does that mean? Does that mean he isn't going to keep his promise to Dennis Leary? Then what was the whole point in him not going to the funeral and semi-breaking up with Stacy?

And did I mention that I would like to have teh secks with Emma Stone? Well I would like to have teh secks with Emma Stone.

nope, I'm out here in San Diego. The new trend is these new fancy VIP high end type of movie theaters. There are now 3 in San Diego and there is a even bigger one operated by a different chain opening up at a mall near me. Here is their website if you are curious. http://www.cinepolisusa.com/Home/Cinemas it works great for big movies I want to see since you buy your tickets and ahead of time and you pick your assigned seats. I never have to worry about lines and getting good seats.
Also i just love the leather reclining seats.. So comfortable!

It wasn't Nolan's batman, but it sure as hell beat every Avenger's movie (ironman, thor, etc.), including the actual Avengers movie

I gotta say I really liked it.

I only went because it was my anniversary and one of our favorite things to do together is watch movies (obviously American).

I didn't go because I had any expectations for this one...matter of fact, I really didn't want to watch it.

But honestly, and even now after debating this for the last 24 hours or so...

It was better than the first Spider-Man.

Of course, if you factor in the fact that the first one set the bar (because it came first) it gets a little murkier. But if you look at the two movies independently, without regard for timing, this one has more of the elements that I like from Spider-Man and better lead actors.

Kinda-sorta-maybe-not-really spoilers...go ahead and click unless you're one of those crazy spoiler nazi people:

There was a more realistic coming-of-age story arc, kinda in the same vein as the kids from Chronicle when they first got their power...which is a plus for me, since one of my main draws to Spider-Man is that he's just a kid really.

The love story drama was more powerful, mainly because Peter Parker's love interest was more interesting as a character.

Spider-Man was more of a smart ass, like he should be.

Overall, I feel like it combined the best elements from the first two Spider-Man movies into one...at the expense of some action scenes and some Daily Bugle backstory.

    I agree witchoo.

My wife loved it, and so did I, despite low expectations.

To us, the Avengers was o.k., but a lot of noise.

Unfortunately this film will disappear in 2 weeks thanks to Batman. Should've been released a little earlier.

I saw it a second today, not by choice. It was much slower the second time around and got a little tired of watching Peter Parker cry throughout the movie. What an emo.

    Still a decent flick.

I give it an 8 in a 10-point scale.

There were less "special effects" than in the previous rendition, but this one is a lot closer to the comic... although I am not specifically a purist in that sort. I think that the acting could have used a bit of polishing. Emma Stone's the REAL Gwen. She's not as good-looking as Bryce Howard, but she holds her own.

I'm glad to see older and well-known actors like Mr. Sheen and Ms. Sally Field in this one.

Overall, it is a good, entertaining, and well-made film. Spidey's flying through the city and alleys in New York and the fighting scenes looked great.

    REAL SPOILER. DON'T CLICK!
    A movie mistake?
When the doctor breaks the camera, I thought it was the end of such an expensive piece of equipment, but then it reappears. My daughter said: "Well, he is rich, dad, he might have just bought another quickly." I think she was right.

    Star Wars guy voice?
The voice of the mutated lizard dude sounded to me like Dexster Jettster from the Star Wars: Episode II movie... the guy at the diner that explains to Obi-Wan about the dart he found on Sam.

I'm not a homo, but... on the scene where Chief Stacy is about to shoot Spidey, when he falls to the ground... Spidey shows his butt. It's... umm... rather BIG and well-shaped. "Yeeeaaahhhhh... I think he works out."
Still TOO MUCH to pay for a movie, I think.

Wait a minute... I smell in this BBS? Is it my green small mints next to my name :( ? Hey, man... I think it's a bit judgmental of you to think I'll behave the same in a theater where I have paid some moolah and where I know people have paid some moolah, compared to here, where your a$$ hasn't contributed one dime to this BBS. :p

Why am I even answering a "suns rockets fan"?
