If it doesn't meet the hi-low lotto guarantees, it probably reverts ot unprotected after a year or a few years.
omg please no!!!! after all this...if it's about ultimately bringing in a guy who is on the other side of 30...i'm gonna vomit. and i say that as a guy on the other side of 30!
your houston rockets 2012: PG: Aaron Brooks (!) SG: Kevin Martin SF: Chandler Parsons PF: Luis Scola C: Marcus Camby PG: Shaun Livingston/Sergio Llull SG: Jeremy Lamb SF: Royce White/Marcus Morris PF: Donatas Motiejunas/Patrick Patterson/(one of the Jons) C: Terrence Jones/Furkan Aldemir, aka "6 fouls and a warm body" -only one of the Jons (Brockman, Leuer) will survive the cut. -Lee gets signed by Chicago -Dwight stays put -Dragic to the Suns -Lin stays in NY
I consider the Heat, Celtics, Nets, Knicks, 76ers, Pacers all better than the Raptors right now. So they will probably be fighting for the 7,8th seed with Magic, Bucks, Bulls, and Hawks.
i get it, but Lowry on that team really works against the value of the pick we are getting. We may not see that pick for a very very long time; and when we do see it, it could be relatively late lotto in a shallow draft. It's a big gamble for us; not so much for Toronto.
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/e...ets-pg-kyle-lowry-in-exchange-for-draft-picks Ken Berger confirms an ESPN and Houston Chronicle report that the Toronto Raptors are "on the verge" of a trade for Houston PG Kyle Lowry. Multiple reports indicate that the trade will include a protected first-round pick with "high" upside for Houston. The Chronicle also reports that forward Gary Forbes will go to Houston and that the pick is protected to ensure it is neither too high for the Raptors to give up or too low for the Rockets to take. In May, Lowry expressed displeasure with playing for coach Kevin McHale and without saying as much requested a trade publicly. The Rockets are reportedly offering Jeremy Lin a sizeable offer as a replacement point guard, which the Knicks have reportedly indicated they will match. Reserve point guard Goran Dragic agreed to terms with the Phoenix Suns Wednesday night. Lowry immediately gives the Raptors a major upgrade at point guard, able to score and distribute, and allows them to either amnesty Jose Calderon to clear cap space or trade the veteran shooting point guard. There will be several interested teams if he were to hit the market, though the Lakers were considered such a party prior to the trade for Steve Nash. Houston loses its nearest thing to an All-Star, and as a consequence, maybe their biggest trade chip for Dwight Howard. Lowry averaged 14 points and 7 assists last season, but saw his shooting percentage drop to just 41 percent, partially impacted by an abdominal infection that sidelined him for most of the last two months of the season. Lowry gives the Raptors a point guard who can create offense, defend, and worked to become a better outside shooter. He's also on an incredibly reasonable contract that will pay him roughly $12 million over two years, but with only $5.7 million of that guaranteed, all in 2013. So the Raptors got a talented, near-All-Star point guard on a reasonable, non-cap-killing contract and all for just a first-rounder, that has protections on it which are yet to be released. Not bad after a pretty disastrous week for Bryan Colangelo. The Rockets gave up their starting point guard and arguably their best player for very little. Welcome to the 2012 NBA Offseason.
Oh sorry. I mean "the only potential all-star". But it doesn't matter now. He's gone for nothing anyways.
starting to feel a little better. Must reserve judgement even though it's very hard. Trying to be rational. Clutchfans has changed me. need to get back to who i am
Why does "our best player" matter? I'm curious why people keep bringing this up. Jrue Holiday or Andre Igoudala would qualify as the "best" player on the Sixers, while Dwyane Wade and Russell Westbrook are unquestionably not the "best" players on their teams. Does that mean Holiday/Igoudala is superior to Wade and Westbrook? If you're not competing for a title, which the Rockets assuredly were not with the existing roster, it doesn't matter whether someone's your "best" player. It's about the value and where it positions you for the future. I'm not dissatisfied if the team gets a lottery pick for Kyle Lowry.
We have a lot of good trading pieces. I'd like to see us acquire a young PG like Brandon Jennings, Stephon Curry, Darren Collison, Brandon Knight or even Kemba Walker.
less lowry/dragic = less wins = higher draft pick in 2013 + whatever draft pick you get out of the trade, itself.
I completely get it.... i said hypothetically that trade isn't worth Lowry even if the Rap's threw in Calderon... in othewr words you didn't read what I said and then said , I can;t read... hilarious
