Which to me isn't worth it. If there was no protection for Toronto, it would bother me, but I don't like the fact that we may be looking at several years for a pick in that range. I wonder if the Rockets could possibly just have the right to defer the pick regardless of position, with Toronto having top 3 protection.
so maybe i'm over-estimating Lowry's value, but why wouldn't we just demand an unprotected pick? i.e., protected on Houston's end, but not Toronto's?
Agree, they should have started blowing it up a few years back. Its been frustrating to watch this team barely not make the playoffs these past few years cuz the owner wants it that way.

Because you risk getting a mid round pick doing that. This pick will likely be guaranteed to be between 3-10.
It's a lottery bound pick, higher selection protected for Raps, lower selection protected from Rox. Get it?
Knowing Morey he probably did, and the Raptors laughed at us. I doubt any other team would have offered us with a better deal.
I agree Not only did we turn Lowry into a first pick that will be flipped to Orlando But we're also cutting cap. Orlando didn't want Lowry because they inked Nelson again If we trade to get Howard we will spend all our cap on anyone he wants (courtney lee, rashard lewis?)to convince him to stay with us Plus we could then trade Howard at the deadline to L.A for Bynum It also entices Lin to side with us more so than ny. Either that or we have a trade lined up with another team for an elite pg?
Better late then never I guess...The minute Yao Ming limped off the floor Rockets should've began tanking...
What if this is a way to get Gasol. LA traded their picks to PHO. So what about this pick & Scola for Gasol?
It sounds to me like it will be protected from both ends. As in, "This pick must be between 4 and 14 or else it will roll over to the next year," kind of protection. Honestly if you ask me that's terrible because we might not ever see the pick if that's the case. Grr. No matter whether or not you supported rebuilding, you can't be satisfied with that kind of return on our best player.
Let's call Miami and demand LeBron James and see what happens. I'm sure they tried, but Lowry's value isn't exactly an unprotected pick from a team that could be terrible. I think we got a good idea two weeks ago when he was our lead chip in any effort to get in the top 10...
