Will Lin play the PG or SG spot if he does sign here? Anybody think he'd be a better SG?

Probably. ESPN has reported that if Lin signs a deal that is backloaded for the last 2 years ($10M+), it will be hard for the Knicks to match because of the harsher luxury tax penalties going into effect.

I don't think any luxury tax will deter the Knicks. They will match any offer Lin receives.

The Knicks will most likely match...this is the growing consensus in NY now

NYK has ~$61.5MM tied up in three players in 2014/15. If you backload similar to the Asik deal not only are their Luxury Tax implications, but you have basically exceeded the salary cap on FOUR players

if you are looking 3 years down the road you put them in a situation to where at least one of the 4 will get amnestied

Why we sign a rfa, when we could have signed dragic fot he same money and dragic is better than lin? We have lost the direction

I believe only Melo and Stat would qualify for the amnesty provision however

I think the "Direction" has was lost when Yao retired. I like Lin, I think he could be an all-star one day but if Morey really was going after the better player and fit right now Goran was a no brainer.

To me this looks like more of marketing ploy to fill seats. Jeremy Lin is a up and coming name, Morey and Les will pay to get a buzz around here. He hopefully can fill some seats and get the Rockets some TV time.
