Yet they give Lin that same player option - no more excuses Morey - you failed to get it done.

We don't even know if the Lin story is true yet, but let's not let that get in the way of incessant whining.

it's pretty clear they like Lin better than Dragic. I think Lin is more of a pure PG, but i also think Dragic is a much better all-around player, and has a higher upside. This is a tough one for me to swallow, but I'll wait till the dust settles.

Well true, I guess 3 years at pick 14 is not enough for some folks patience.

I wouldn't say that...I'd say they learned their lesson after not giving Dragic a player option.

Link on the Lin player option? So many rumors flying around, I wouldn't trust #s and terms thrown around until something more official comes out.

In any case, even if there was a 4th year option for Lin, it would be different mathematically. Specifically, with Dragic, it will be roughly even money for all 4 years. For Lin, the 4th year would be a "Poison Pill" year worth $10M or $11M where there isn't that much of a chance for Lin to opt out unless he really turns into a superstar.

That's not what is being discussed in this thread.

If we sign Lin and there is a player option for the 4th year, then the b****ing is justified, IMO. But I'm not going to take the NY Post as gospel.

So you think they realized that not giving that was a mistake and gave one to Lin?

What I don't understand is why they did not lock Dragic up for 5 years? Why only 3 or 4?

Pay the 26 year old PG with the massive upside.

I just don't get what Morey is doing, other than treading water and drawing a paycheck - and trying to look smart.

This Dragic thing makes zero sense to me. A 4th year player option was the deal breaker for a 26 year old guard?

Yeah, I think we tried to play a little hardball with Goran and it backfired quickly...thus, the 4th year player option for Lin.

First thing this offseason that I put the blame squarely on Morey.

I have thought Morey was out of his league when we hired him, and still feel that way.

Honestly, I'd prefer Lin over Dragon for two reasons. One, I have heard that Lin is a better defender than Dragon. Secondly, Lin was integral in making the Knicks relevant again. Night and night out putting up monstrous numbers and leading the Knicks to winning streak that put them in the playoff picture. He also did this without Melo. Dragic never gave us that type of production.

This offseason is so fun. I feel like I am at ground zero of the Chernobyl meltdown right before the blast. Fun times.

With 70% of the roster being "power forwards" in their rookie contracts, martin only having a year left, scola with 2 years left and no superstars coming because let's face it, there are only seven of them and teams don't just give them away, I don't see the problem in giving dragic that player option.

I smell a rebuild project taking place 1 year late.

Notice they S&T Nash first THEN they signed Dragic... Come he knows hes gonna be the starter, dont gotta deal with all the stress of Lowry whinning and Martin too. He just gotta go ball now, no worries.
