Isn't Dragic an RFA? Can't we still match?

I don't think the money would have mattered unless it was substantially more. He just wanted to be in Phoenix.

No. He just didn't want to be in Houston.

He only signed a two year deal if Im not mistaken. There are two more than capable future head coaches waiting in the wings. Of course the org. will back him now, but I would not be shocked if McHale was let go after next season. This was always viewed as a coaching "swing for the fences" type of deal from the beginning, even from McHale's POV. Who was hesitant to even get back into coaching from the get-go.

Per Feigan on 790, 4th year player option was the dealbreaker.

And people say the Rockets org is not cheap. I can't believe they let him go for that amount, it is not $10m a year, and it was only for 4 years.

That is basically quality starting money for a good PG - and the Rockets said no.

Where is that "Fire Morey" thread again, I need to change my answer.

    Ugh.

Maybe it's the hangover, but I do not feel this same level of panic.
I think we can still field a nice team.
I like the young players we have acquired.
Plus, there is still a lot of time left on the clock for deals to cure the imbalances.

And it seems like the screaming over Dragic comes from the same place as the screaming for the team to tank. It's bi-polar behavior.

Don't you think the fans should give a toot? I mean when the younger players are starting to say this stuff, then it is clearly known around the league that the Rockets are the cheap franchise.

We have turned into the Clippers, right before our eyes. Getting lowball contracts instead of keeping talent.

It is a sad day, to be a Rockets fan.

We offered a similar deal for Lin?

This is ****ing bull****. Dragic is better than Lin.

Sucks but it is probably a blessing in disguise...

Personally I would love to have traded Lowry and Martin for a Howard deal or some other package like a top ten pick and then resigned Gogi and Lee.... But Lowry now has something to prove and he has heart along with an extremely manageable contract. I expect both to be healthy and hungry next season and this "blessing in disguise" will pay off in a multitude of ways...

    1. Young talent playing/development time... (Lamb)
    2. Martin on a contract year... you see what guys do on those years (Gogi and Lin)
    3. Lowry re-asserts himself as the only possible All-Star on this team and reminds the unfortunately fickle Rockets Fans just how good he was less than a year ago...

Don't see why PHX can't still offer Gordon the max here. all they've got to do is release Brooks, Lopez, etc.

lets see..he may have gotten a 40 mil offer for 5...and didnt want that...instead accepting an offer for 34/4year deal...The Rockets offered a reasonable contract and Dragic didnt want it...nothing more nothing less...8.5 mil>8.0 mil for Dragic.

F goran, hes overrated, he shrunk most when we needed him most, AND he got schooled by od nash during that 7 game losing streak, im glad hes gone, he was vastly overrated, somethin clutchfan natives tend to do sometimes

Which is why he'll be making only 7.5m/year. You know, less than Scola, Martin, Asik, and many other non-superstars, and the same as Jeremy Lin.

Is it at all possible that Dragic preferred Pheonix and wanted us to pay more to come here?

Because it doesn't make sense that we would deem that too rich and then turn around and offer Lin a likely similar contract.

How is this a blessing? This offfseason has been one kick in the nuts after another. We've sucked for 3 years in a row and now we're gonna go out therre with an even worse roster than the last 3 years??? none of this makes sense. If Morey is executinga plan right now the only plan it could be would be super similar to the astros. which is no way to run an NBA franchise as we've seen from the T-wolves, Nuggets and Bucks. but more correctly I think Morey is in over his head; This was supposed to be a crucial offseason for us and it seemed to start out that way but we've just fallen by the wayside. Hope there is a plan in place but it doesn't seem that way...
