It's not Morey's fault it is Les Alexander. Morey is using his plan B right now because Les won't let him do his plan A. Morey wants to go OKC style and build through high draft picks. Les on the other hand wants to keep winning as many games as possible even if it doesn't get you in the playoffs. Morey gets paid my Les, therefore we go with Les' plan. It wouldn't matter who the GM is, we would be doing the same thing.
There is no doubt Morey has a plan, but the odds of achieving that plan in the short term is very small. Too many people that need to see change NOW are are the reason he gets a bad rep on the board.
Well there still will be a trade or two. Scola still should be moved, martin too and maybe lowry if we sign lin. Also might sign camby, lee isn't completely gone. So there is a 50% chance we can walk out of this off season very happy if morey can get deals done.
I think the events thus far from being unable to trade for Howard (or another player) to not being able to trade up in the draft to being stuck with three mid round picks to the meltdown that has been freeagency .... have blown up Morey's plan. Like I said in my last post - Ive been a defender of Morey and thought I could see a long term solution .... but with recent events , I think he's just wingin it now as everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. I think they are getting desperate ... I just hope that desperation doesnt lead to colossal mistakes that hamstring the franchise for years to come.
How bad would this offseason be for Morey if the Bulls matched the Asik offer? He dealt for picks that he did not intend to use in the draft. It seems he is overpaying for Asik based on what-if-he-played-starter-minutes stats. He is half way on the road to losing two of the Rockets' best young players in Dragic and Lee. Lin is supposed to supplant Dragic, ouch, and he will probably get matched by NY (although I don't blame Morey for letting Lin go, the NO trade that sent Dragic away might have kept Lin on the roster). Good news? I guess you can count Howard still being in ORL as good news. Dwight Howard should be a Rocket after the Magic GM still sees Houston's offer on the table after the dust settles.
Man, I'm just excited to watch Royce and D-Mo play. Everything else is just jelly. We weren't gonna contend this year anyway. I think it will be fun watching these new players develop this season.
I rather low ball with lowry still here and sign to a good contract than over pay and stunt the growth of our rookies and play .500 ball and in cap hell.. and for what???
