Screw Dragic. This is a good thing anyway with Nash being signed now. Lowry's trade lvl is hella high.

This off-season is very unMoreylike...he's all about acquiring assets and we just let two of our biggest ones (Lee and Dragic) go while getting nothing in return. I feel like something is up.

Well its a hard selling point that your collecting assets for a big trade and the teams with less assets are making bigger moves. That means you no longer have a selling point

I'm sorry to bust your bubble, Dragic is not an all-star PG. I dont see how he's gonna be making the all-star team over Kobe, Paul, Nash, Parker, Westbrook in the next few years. An all-star PG makes his team better which translates to wins. Yes, his stats were phenomenal...all-star mention-worthy! However, the Rockets finished 13-13, including a 6 game losing streak in the last month of the season which pretty much scratched us from the Playoff run. Prior to him taking over, the Rockets were 21-19.

With all the "Fire Morey", "Morey can't close a deal!", "More Sucks" threads, you guys are failing to see the big picture. Players in the Rockets organization are treated like assets because THEY ARE! This team is filled with a bunch of ROLE PLAYERS! ROLE PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS ASSETS! You dont wanna be treated like an asset you say? WIN 50+ games every year! Make the Playoffs! Get to AT LEAST the 2nd round every year!

If players like Otis Thorpe, Mario Elie, Sam Cassell, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Etc can be treated like assets... who all contributed to our championship run, then anyone on this Rockets team can be treated like one as well.

So please don't go on a rant because she's a D-Cup but doesn't bring other than her chest to the relationship. It takes more than a busty rack to make a marriage work.

They're just doing what they should have done years ago when Yao's foot fell off. Pull the plug and get top 5 draft picks.

This is the best offseason so far. We have tons of capspace, multiple promising young players and no bad contracts.

I've been hearing this for years though. At what point do we convert our #assets to an actual honest to God TEAM? When will that happen? If it never happens, are you guys great with watching our capspace each season?

I feel like this is the Toys R Us commercial where the little boy gets a "rain check" for his favorite toy for Christmas. He goes hopping around the neighborhood pretending to play with his rain check.

Exactly. Dragic wont make the all-star team so dont pay him more than the price range you have already determined. The team is still a long way from competing so losing him shouldnt be that big a deal. Dragic is a top 20(even say top 15) PG but the Rockets will find another.

One thing that hurts teams treating players like assets is no one wants to come here. While I didnt want the Rockets to spend more than 8 mil on Dragic he went on to sign for 8.5?

Courtney Lee is now a free agent and with him laughing at jokes about Morey being a ******, I dont see him returning. Why would a professional athelete "lol" at something like that about your former gm? The reason is probably because he probably hate the guy. You can get away with treating players like assets to a certain limit. If you constantly make moves and get no where, players will start to resent you.

If word continues to spread about the way Rockets organizations treat players than no one will ever sign here until they get a star to attract players. Rockets will never get a star unless they trade/draft one. Rockets do not seem able to trade for a star. Rockets are never bad enough to draft a star. AND... the cycle will continue to the end of time.

Because the Rockets were winning in the past they could get away with treating Otis Thorpe, Mario Elie, Sam Cassell, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Etc like assets.

And that something is Dwight Howard. You cannot rebuild correctly if you are in a constant holding pattern for a Super Star.

No, he signed for $7.5 million/season, I think.

Look, I'm fine with all of this if they've finally woken up and are gonna trade away vets and roll with young guys only. They'll lose enough to be in position to try to draft the players who turn this franchise around from mediocrity.

But if the goal is still to go out there and acquire the Dalembert-esque pieces to put this team right at around .500 again, then I'm going to be lost.

You serious!? That proves my point even more. He signed with another team for less money to get away from the Rockets.

I agree with the other part. Time to rebuild.

If I was Dragic I would've left too. Our team is unstable, our GM is grasping at straws and desperate. We were trying to get Deron Williams here over Dragic, he knew that. We haven't been able to dump Lowry. He sees how we treat players. He is loved in Phoenix by the fans and there would be no competition, no looking over his shoulder for him to be traded to land the next star. I would've left this crazy place too. If something doesn't work out in free agency by the trade deadline this year, I'd say fire Morey and McHale. I don't think Morey is incompetent, but he will have proved he can't close the big deals and if he can't work something out, he has failed. How many teams have worse talent than us? Not many. Phoenix, Charlotte, who else?

None of that equates to wins, or getting better as a team or organization.

I am sorry, but the teams that are not flexible are the ones that are kicking arse and taking names.

I am tired of Daryl "Yoga" Morey - flexibility sucks.
