No. Morey's crowning moment is flipping Donte Greene for Artest. Thats by far the best steal hes done. Not his fault Yao and Tmac were too weak.

Did he sign Trevor with a ridiculous contract? Yes. But he remedied that by trading his ass after a year of chucking.

What exactly has Morey done for this team besides keep us in mediocrity? At least CD gave us real hope. That's way more than I can say for Morey.

Because Morey can keep superstar healthy and trade for them whenever he likes?

Pretty sure Morey's "crowning moment" was getting past the first round for the first time in 11 years. And that was after he completely washed away all of Carroll Dawson's horrible role players, and landed Ron Artest... while still being handcuffed by McGrady's contract.

Guess how many players from Carroll Dawson's era were on that team? One...

There are things I like about both. I like the low bustability of players morey finds in the draft. I like the deal making ability of cd. CD can get the superstars, morey could keep them surrounded by good talent. Morey would be better as a gm for say the knicks, heat and chicago. CD would've been the gm to form superfriends.

Morey is the pursuit of the perfect manager, but is not suitable for NBA, Morey always seemed too smart to make nearly all people unhappy , for a long time, no one wants to deal with him, NBA circle is very small

That wasnt the only bad contract he passed out .... There were a few that come to mind. Matt Maloney , Bryce Drew .... Ugh.

Lets not forget CD had a couple poor seasons of his own .... 34–48 and the 28–54 that landed him Yao.

Oh and dont credit CD with those two Larry O'Brien Trophy's .... those belong to Bob Weinhauer.

I've been saying this for years now.
They both have their pluses and minuses ending in a near wash (CD gets the slight edge in my book).

Sadly, the guy we have now seems to lack the nuances or interpersonal skills to get the big deals done.

I don't recall CD going to road trips to sign, or approach players. I got to give him credit for doing the Big 4 (Dream, Clyde, Chuck, Pip), but discredit him for allowing them to sink with M.Maloney as captain.

Troy Glaus is probably the best guy for the analogy.

Say what you want about CD and his questionable draft picks or ridiculous extensions, at least he could pull off a blockbuster trade to bring in superstars.

CD would definitely appease the current member-base of Clutchfans. I imagine he would have signed Beasley, given Lee 7mil/yr and held onto Dragic. Then he would trade for a "superstar" like Corey Maggette or Chris Kaman. In fact, I'm almost certain that's exactly what he would do. And you guys would love it.

CD always paid the guys y'all wanted - Maurice Taylor, Stromile Swift, Derek Andersen, James Posey (meh), Shandon Anderson... That's how I remember the guy.

Shoot, I like CD, he obviously let the coach call the shots as well, but c'mon. He couldn't draft, he overpaid guys, he's simply not a good GM in this modern era of NBA basketball...

Sorry Morey didn't offer the max to Ray Allen. Get over it.

The players Morey put around Yao and T-Mac in such a short period of time. Wow. That was truly impressive. We went from Ryan Bowen, Jon Barry, Luther Head, and Clarence Weatherspoon playing SIGNIFICANT playoff minutes to Artest, Landry, Brooks, etc... that should tell you what Morey is capable of.

Considering how crappy the players surrounding Yao and T-Mac were before that, it should also tell you how great of a coach Jeff Van Gundy was.

I voted in this poll but the question can not be serious. CD handed out some of the worst contracts in team history.

    Kelvin Cato
    Matt Maloney
    Shandon Anderson
    Mo Taylor
    Moochie Norris

Who doesnt miss the Walt Williams, Bryce Drew era of Rockets basketball? Even though Morey has yet to hit the home run, he isnt overmatched at the plate like CD was.

You do realize that CD was the GM for twice as long as Morey, right? And what about the great misses that CD made? Like passing on Lewis 3 times to take guys like Drew and Turckan. And trading away Richard Jefferson to take E. Griffin. Or how about drafting Jason Collier. He was a stiff even when he was alive! And how he decided Rudy Gay wasn't worth the 8th pick so they shipped him off for Battier. Yeah CD was an awesome GM.

And without "getting it done" the Dawson Rockets would not have had enough salary to match McGrady when he forced his way to Houston. Because McGrady wanted to play BBall with...someone drafted by...? :p

I love how all the Morey apologists give him a pass because "his" best players were injured.

Really starting to doubt money ball. I'm sure Le$ is enamored with it.

As a Raiders fan, I can tell you that nothing is worse than out of touch ownership. At least I have one team to follow that is under new management.
