Feigen reported the Rockets felt the offer was "too rich" for them. Morey tried to lowball.

If Morey thinks Lowry is better then why would he garuntee Dragic a starting spot?

I like Dragic personally and prefer him to Lowry but there are many who do not. It has been reported that Daryl will not trade Lowry unless someone offers him the moon. I think that's all you need to know about what Morey thinks of Lowry.

Dragic clearly stated he was only going to sign where he could be the starter. Daryl does not appear to have garunteed that.

    Players don't think like that.

Don't think "If I sign then this player is gone."

Because that would mean trusting a GMs word which players rarely do...the truth is the starting PG spot for the Suns was wide open and the Rockets starting PG spot was a big "?"

It's funny because some of yall WANTED a top 5 pick and now we don't? I'm confused, this board changes what it wants and what it doesn't on a hourly basis now.

If we're rebuilding around Lin and Asik this franchise is sadder than I thought. Let's get Kris Humphries and Marco Belinelli while we're at it.

It's weird that the guys we thought would be gone (Lowry, Martin, Scola) are still here while Lee and Dragic are gone.

No what happened was, the Kings were gonna take Lowry the 12th and 18th picks, and some of our players for Tyreke Evans and the 5th( unless Thomas Robinson was still there on the board)

The Bobcats threw a wrench in Morey plans and took MKG, Thomas Robinson feel to the Kings, and that was a wrap on any deal that night

Lowry should have been gone on draft day, but the Bobcats messed up everything by taking MKG

Exactly. He wasn't "as good as gone".

He was gone "if the right deal" came along....

That's just it, Lowry was not gone. Daryl Morey was refusing to trade him unless some offered him a whole lot.

I really don't know what to think anymore. the only logical explanation I can think of is that we're tanking, but we haven't even gotten rid of k-mart, scola, and lowry yet. I swear to god if we come out on opening day and this is our lineup, I might just drop dead

    lowry
    martin
    parsons
    scola
    patterson

this makes no sense. I wasn't a morey or less hater before, they seemed pretty decent until now. this, this is just ridiculous. I know it's only the beginning of the off-season, but damn, it's not looking so good. if we get rid of the vets and just go completely young, I might be able to salvage this a little better. if we're really tanking next year, hopefully it'll be this lineup:

    machado/?
    lamb/?
    parsons/morris
    jones/patterson
    d-mo/?

and even out the rest of the roster with trash we get from the lowry, martin, scola trades. hopefully get some 1st rd. picks too. this won't be too bad IF we can trade all the vets and just let all the young guns play. rebuild time most likely, I can live with this. hopefully they're going this direction now and next year, get that center in noels or zeller.

I constantly try to balance the Morey criticism around here...

But 'nickel and diming' is a PERFECT way to describe how he handles transactions. I wonder how many trades never came to fruition or how many signings were squandered just because Morey didn't see that extra 3% return in his pro forma calculations..

This is the first time I've felt really disheartened about the future.

Maybe we didn't offer him $8 mil/yr. But sources are coming out saying Dragic's contract was "too rich." Maybe Morey lowballed him as he has done in the past. It shouldn't surprise any of us if that was the case.

Also I'm willing to bet the Rockets just hang onto Lowry now. People saying he doesn't want to play here I really doubt he has such an aversion to this team.

I think the real reason he asked for the trade was because of playing time.

In time we will see, but if we start the season with Lowry as PG then the only thing we would have lost is a backup point.

I never seen a team screwed up so much in the off season.

First, i can't believe Rockets got rid of Budinger for a draft pick?? A FREAKING DRAFT PICK!! Are you serious?? Budinger worth more than that!

And not signing Dragic is a big mistake...that dude can flat out play...as good as Lowry and deserved at least $8mil/yr imo. I think there is something else in the negotiation that cause Dragic to leave. I just think he want be a starter and w/ Lowry situation being uncertain, he just want to go somewhere he can start.

Courtney Lee, another good player that they just want to let go?? WHY? I don't get it.

Signing Asik and overpaying him? He aint' that great a player...why pay him that much unless you're desperate?? Again, another bad move.

And trying to get LIN? Good luck w/ that...unless you really overpaid him, Knicks are not going to let him go especially now Nash is a goner. Rockets have a better chance of getting LIN if Nash signed with Knicks.

And i heard Lowry not getting along w/ coach and they're probably looking to get rid of him...man this team is a messed lol. Scola name came up on trade. Why would Lin come this is dysfunctional team?

I am happy for him, at least in Phoenix he will get the respect he deserves. Morey is really a cheap freaking b*stard!

As Bima just tweeted (see below).... they may have been listening to offers for Lowry, but it was highly unlikely he was traded.

They likely could have had Gasol last year if they'd have put Lowry in the deal.

Yes, they likely would have traded him ON DRAFT NIGHT, but when things didn't shake out as planned, it was back to pretty much only for Dwight... (or something SIGNIFIGANT).

No way Morey could, at this point, guarantee Goran the starter's job.

    3m David Weiner‏@BimaThug

Something to remember: Other than for DH12 trade (unlikely), 25-yr-old Kyle Lowry wasn't getting dealt. He makes $5.75M, $6.21M next 2 yrs.
