Although it doesn't say "WEEEEE ARE GAY CHAMPIONS, MY BEAR FRIEEEENDS" I believe, he's saying songs where sexual intercourse is MEANT to be brought to mind and attention. Songs where it was thought to be explicitly about baby makin'... but is actually about hamster tunneling example: <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HgzGwKwLmgM?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HgzGwKwLmgM?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> I could jam out to this whether he was in or out of the closet. What I, personally, get from this song is being determined and not letting anything stop me. No matter the under lying message Queen actually had for the track. He could have been talking about No one stopping him from plugging butt holes. Fair enough. <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iRHs3_qyunQ?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iRHs3_qyunQ?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> But say Avant came out of the closet. Specific sexual songs such as this one that I've made intercourse to many times, listening to it after hearing that he wrote it after his run in with Henry? Song just loses a bit of magic for me. Like hotballa says, it's just songs in CONTEXT. If not only in context of the song itself, but the context that each individual personally applies to said song. I don't think anyone here is saying that he's less of an artist, or him coming out makes his songs any worse from a talent stand point.
It's just a little bit discomforting knowing his songs are about other men... I heard that in some songs he would use "he" instead of she. He has mad talent though. I'm not sure how well homosexuality and rap will mix, especially since he is in Odd Future
Which is irony on top of irony, because despite the 'f*****' bomb being constantly dropped, everyone in the OF crew is cool and openly acceptable to homosexuality. One of their DJ's is a lesbian for example.
I should also say. It's not like if I'm in the middle of sexin' a girl and a Frank Ocean song comes on, I'ma get soft and angry lol I love his songs too much to just kick them off the playlists. But as I'm on a long road trip and I have nothing but my tunes and thoughts, I'll prob sing alone and enjoy the song - BUT there will always be that tiny thought in the back of my mind "mannnn... this was meant for penis-on-penis stimulation" as a fleeting thought
So many homophobes here... not surprised though. This is ClutchFans... This won't stop me from listening to his music, and unless he specifically mentions another dude in his song... I won't be thinking about gay male sex. I guess some of you will...

We are not saying that he isn't talented or that he has made bad songs.
Last time I checked, music is what you make of it. If you're not thinking of a guy when YOU'RE singing the song to yourself, then that's all that matters for you. Besides, it's 2012. This kinda stuff shouldn't be making news anymore. Who gives a crap what someone's sexual orientation is??
So you're saying that if people like Keith sweat and the baby making music artist were gay and it was actually directed towards another male, it would be fine?
I believe EVERYONE in this thread is tolerant. But its not what its about. Its just the Scale of STRAIGHT in the world is so HUGE. True gays are what, scientifically reported to be 5% and less of the population? (Most people think its 20%). Thats far too small a number to expect "ambiguity" to everything. No one is saying Ocean should stop singing or that he's a bad guy. People just overwhelmingly arent gay. If I'm American and its okay for me to not want to listen to East Indian music, or to not watch French movies simply on the condition that I don't relate well enough. Or if I don't even relate to Celine Dion and Kelly Clarkson songs, why should I feel I need to relate to having sex with males?
EXACTLY Especially if you are such a big fan of said person. If John Mayer came out of the closet?? I'm a fan. But only strictly because majority of what I hear from him I like, but I couldn't name you any of his songs outside the singles. If he came out of the closet, I'd be like "Pshh cool beans. More power to him" THEN it's another "big deal?" situation. (how majority of you are reacting, which is natural) But it'd be slightly different for people who truly FOLLOW John Mayer and had an interpersonal relationship/connection with his music.
It all depends on how crafty the artist is. I don't think its as open-interpretation to EVERY song like everyone is saying, especially when the words "him/her/he/she" is used. But its if they keep the context of the songs open-ended and not specific. George Michael is probably #1 with that. After he came out, I still have no problem playing "Father Figure" for some hetero bedroom romping. As long as people feel its interpreted with a hetero angle at the time, they're a bit more forgiving. (Actually the 70's-80's was a little different era. In times when there was more social homophobia, the entertainment world was as its most adrogynous and flambouyant. People were having too much fun to give a sh** I guess.) But again, George Michael wasnt coming out until AFTER he made his money lol. And THATS why gay ARTISTS choose to remain in the closet. They know they're not gonna make money with a gay message and gay population + extra, they got to tap into the general market. They know damn well they stand to lose out on sympathetic-but-decidely-straight-man sales. So it really is a GUTSY move for an artist to come out.

Oh, so that's what a Tyler, the Creator is? I see him on humblebrag every month and have long wondered who he is and why he's so angry.

I just talked to Frank and he wanted me to let the OP know those songs were specifically written for him. Every. Single. Word.
Wouldn't it be proper to put those "head" smilies you're posting here onto your own imageshack or photobucket account instead of using them directly from The-Coli.com [leeching]? I can guarantee their admins. are going bananas with so much usage "referred from" ClutchFans.net pages...
