did you not realize that the lakers were going to get chris paul in that deal? Paul in his prime > 40 yr old Nash How are the Lakers supposed to be a dynasty with Nash? Is he gonna play until he's 45?
Gasol's not a center, he's not the defensive presence we need, his contract is ridiculous, he's too old to fit in with our young roster, he would block the development of our young bigs, etc etc. not a good fit for us. and what team plays defense with their trades ie trading for a player you don't need just so another team doesn't have him.
At least he's retiring in 2-3 years, Kobe's body breaking down, gasol getting old, bynum's injury prone...theres hope.
There is no hope, we are nowhere close to the finals, we just need to blow it up and tank. There isn't really much morey can do through trades/FA to have us competitive with the Lakers/heat/thunder. Just blow it up
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww...how much did the Lakers just give up for Nash... Looks like they are going all in for Dwight guys... Bynum will wear a ORL jersey this season...smh.... Lakers just got better...
Gasol is a center. If you do not realize that I cannot help you. The Rockets are screwed. OKC and the Heat may as well go on vacation for the next few years if a Bynum - Howard exchange takes place.
Man the Lakers must've put together one massive, well-organized twitter campaign to get Nash to sign with LA.

Offensively they have just become unstoppable. Their weak link after Artest might actually be Kobe now, since he's old and has lost a step and often doesn't know when to stop shooting those long two's. But yeah the way everyone used to defend the Lakers (near-double of Kobe with a completely wide open PG at the 3pt line) won't work at all. Nash's 3pt shooting is even deadlier than his playmaking ability. Defensively, however, they remain vulnerable. In fact, I still predict that as long as these Lakers exist, they will lose to the Thunder whenever they match up in the playoffs. Can you imagine Nash/Kobe trying to keep Russell Westbrook out of the paint? It killed them this past year; it will kill them harder next year. Nothing has really changed in the NBA and most likely won't for the next three years. It's going to be Miami and OKC building dynasties and a rivalry for the ages.
If Kobe can set aside his ego and work with Nash on the court, specifically let Nash be the primary ballhandler, they could be a very scary team
I'm not a Kobe supporter by any means but I don't have a doubt in my mind that Kobe is going to let Nash run the ship as long as they're winning. Nash is who Kobe and the Lakers needed: a fiery competitor (opposite of gasol) that can run pretty much any offense (opposite of Sessions, Fisher, Blake, etc.) who can also shoot from anywhere on the floor and has the credentials to back himself up (opposite of Artest and Bynum). In all honesty, I don't even know if the Lakers need Howard. You have Nash teach Bynum some pick and roll sets (a la Stoudemire) and you're set for the next couple of years.
I'll sort of agree with this. You got Durant and Westbrook that get you 60, combined, on any given night. But, by adding Nash, each Lakers player becomes a threat, offensively. The PnR with Bynum and Gasol will make defenses collapse, leaving wing players open. Three points. Or, the defense chooses not to commit, and instead, Gasol / Bynum are left playing 1v1 versus their opponent. Two points. Nash, Gasol, Bryant, and Bynum can all get 20 a game, easily. Granted, the Suns style under D'Antoni wins you games in the regular season, but that success never really translated to the postseason (except for that WCF Suns year). But Nash never had efficient scorers like Gasol and Bynum, nor a superstar like Bryant to play alongside. Defense aside, the Lakers are truly unstoppable on offense, as you said. But I think that their offense now, is more than capable of covering up their defensive mistakes.
What I enjoy is the Mavs were courting Nash and watched the Lakers use the Mavs TE from the bust Odom trade to get him.
